Should Children Be Allowed To Join Online Communities?

That's a tough one.I'm inclined to say ok,if the parents monitor the action,but parents can't be everywhere.The internet is.

I just thought of something.If for example,a child predator should be a member of any given forum,could he not just use the pm feature to manipulate and seek out children for appalling purposes?Would not the Mods or Administrator have a difficult time keeping track of this?

Depends i think the parents should maybe read a few posts to know what the community is like first like some community's have hold no bars to swearing some do.

So i suppose it varies to what kind of online community the child wants to join.

Under the age of 13, absolutely not. Many forums have rules about posting if someone is under 13.

I think the parents should watch a little bit over their posts and such...but sometimes a 12 year old can make more mature posts than a hot headed 17 year old poster.
