Rumor: Super Smash Bros. arriving on VC with Brawl

We, much like our friends at Nintendo Wii Fanboy, don't have a lot of substantiation for this rumor, but we thought we'd pass it along anyway: Nintendo Power has been speculating that Super Smash Bros. will arrive on the Wii's Virtual Console alongside Super Smash Bros. Brawl's March 9 release date. Similar timing was used for Metroid and Super Mario Bros. 3 with Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy respectively.

We understand those tie-ins, each of the new games are markedly different from their predecessors, but we have a hard time believing we'll be enjoying Brawl in March and wish that we could play a ****tier version. But hey, maybe that's just us.

Looks like we're reading the same site. :lol

That would be cool though.

Joystiq and destructoid ftw

and yeah, idk if i would buy this if i got brawl. they should just put it on the brawl disc for free with an online mode because they made us wait so long

i mean with galaxy came mario 64 and im sure theres others that have doen the same
Far from it, Super Mario 64 was VC'd at Wii launch, about 15 months before Galaxy. Super Metroid and Metroid were added for Prime 3, though.

Because Earthbound was the one game in the Mother series we got, and due to it being added on the Japanese VC at some point due to the Masterpiece of it in the game, it's entirely plausible they will launch it here as well. The same can't be said for Fire Emblem...

just a guesse form me but maybe becuase not many people are fiiliar with ness or lucas so maybe to fimiliarise americans with them?
Lucas was in Mother 3, which is on the GBA, he couldn't be a Masterpiece if he tried.

Wouldn't you think they would want to advertise for their biggest game as much as possible?
That directed at me? If so, what?

I can see SSB doing this. Mother is a text-heavy RPG that has yet to be translated; IIRC the Masterpiece demo isn't in the US version of Brawl.

Almost right. Mother 1 has yet to be translated, but neither Ness or Lucas is in Mother 1, they are in Mother 2 and 3, respectively. Mother 2 was translated a long time ago as Earthbound, so they're perfectly capable of putting it on the Virtual Console.

Ah, that's it, then. I didn't know they were both in EarthBound. Too bad Mother/Mother 3 will never be officially translated. :(

No, Lucas was in Mother 3, which takes place well after Mother 2. The Mother series is rumored to be on one DS cart, though, and there is a fan translation of Mother 3(so it'll be high quality) and it'll be done in spring. If, at any time, Nintendo announces plans to make Mother 3 available in the US, they will immediately cancel their translation, as the goal is to get Mother 3 in English.

That's not what I meant. Maybe I shouldn't have used "never"... but I basically meant that Nintendo has yet to make any announcements on officially translating a Mother game (other than EarthBound, of course).

Yeah, I've heard about that. I just hope it actually /is/ high-quality... you never know with unofficial translations...
