How much total did you pay to get this forum started. My friend started one it's almost the same as egameaddiction's. but he says it's free. He doesn't have a chat room though. Does that cost extra money?

Thank you for your time.

it could just be me but I find it weird that your asking bv to help out his competition. I mean you even said his site is just like BVs. I just really find that weird :-\

It's similar in the fact that the format is similar. Competition? Nahh, the forum my friend set up was for friends only, not to talk about or sell videogames. It's one of those, "universal," forums people use to talk about anything and everything. I was just wondering how to start one with a chat room. El fin.

there are plenty of free forums you can get........but traffic will be a lot less and there will not be as many features..........and some free ones do have chats

yes, there are plenty of free forums. This is not sensitive information.... I mean, the link is in the footer of the boads. People will start up sites... and that is fine.... when I started up, I had to ask questions and what not.

Now, the site became successful when I paved my own path for the site though... we used our own software and what-not.

Flashchat by Tufat, just google it, it costs $5. Warning... it does use a lot of bandwidth.... which is why many people opt not to use Flashchat.

We survived for a couple years using free solutions (or near free solutions).... but as a site grows, its impossible to stay free. JUST for our server alone... that is $170 per month. These statistics make many sites fold because most cannot find a way to bring up that kind of cash per month.

True, but there isn't a whole lot of traffic here, at least not yet.
