Prince of Persia by Harry Potter director?

The Freeman
Variety reports that mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer has offered director duties for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to Mike Newell. Although Newell directed Four Weddings and a Funeral and Donnie Brasco, we're guessing Bruckheimer is tapping Newell because of his work with Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. Newell is currently meeting with Disney studio execs this week and an announcement will probably be made shortly thereafter.

The script for Prince of Persia was written by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow) and PoP creator Jordan Mechner. All we can say at this point is this movie is sounding like a popcorn munching friendly theater experience.

This actually sounds rather awsome! I'm feeling rather enthusiastic about it's realese, considering how good the game was! The game has a very good story line, so it's safe to assume that the movie version would be able to make for something that would keep you in your seats, and hopefuly asking for an encore!

Yeah, just wait until "Godsmack signed to record soundtrack of Prince of Persia sequel." (Anyone get the reference?)

Anyway, Disney is a pro at making awesome movies these days, with Pirates and all, so maybe this will be the new Pirates. :D

NO! Ubisoft tried to be "hardcore" when they made Prince of Persia - Warrior Within, and they dysmally failed. I was mocking them.

They dismally failed? I thought that was just as good as the first game.

Ugh, I've just got a bad feeling about this movie. Who knows though, it may actually be good. :-\

I second you there. I don't have a very good feeling about this movie either.

:lol Well that's a load off! Darn, and I thought for a second that they'd upgraded their music sources. Then again, the sorce used for Sand of Time was pretty darn good! It fitted not only with the situations that you came across, but suited perfectly to the environment that you played yourself through.

Perhaps if enough visions of this movie made it to disney then it wouldn't be so bad but what would the real prince of persia say about his movie perceiving it at the age it happened
