Unless they're doing that "sell razors cheap because we're going to make the money from them buying replacement blades" kind of marketing. Maybe the system will be cheap and the games expensive. I'd rather pay more for the handheld and less for the games, though. Buying the system once for $300 and buying games at $30 would be better than buying the system at $199 and then paying $50 a game to help make up the costs. I've paid enough for games to have bought like 500 consoles by now.
I think the addition of an optical drive really makes things a lot worse. I don't know about anybody else, but I like cartridges the best. What else can you take and toss into a bag and throw into a bookbag other than a cartridge? You cannot do that with a CD.
Yeah, but PSM is Playstation magazine. They could be leaving out some info just to make the PSP look good.
Or maybe Sony will be typical and it will actually only be like $149....but then you have to pay $50 for the memory card/battery pack/adapter or some other thing that is absolutely necessary for using the PSP and yet they aren't selling with the system.
The memory card stick is a regualr Sony 32 meg memory card stick so that should be okay. changer should come with unit since it comes with special long life battery. but there is a external battery pack.
just wait and see, sony will surprise us all.
also
yes it's PSM or Playstation Magazine but they are 100% INDEPENDENT and thats there motto
OPM is Offical Playstation Magazine which I would expect to be a sony slave.
I hardly care about the price of the system, that'll go down soon enough.$50 for handheld games is way to much for me, considering their prices most likely won't drop as fast or quick as the system's will.
I see what your saying Neph...but I mean...this discussion was started on rumors...
$199 is a more than fair price from what I've seen from the graphics...If gameplay comes close to that of the PS1 then I'd say there won't be a handheld that can touch it. Sony will do it again! $50 for games...how much are GBA games? Thought I've seen some that were ummmmm errrrrrrr $50. And just to give a basic lesson to all of you here complaining about paying for periphials...It's called supply and demand. Don't you think that like a 100 Gig processor already exists...of course it does...but if they released it now...then what would be the point in buying a 4Gig??? No point! Supply and demand...that's American free enterprise.
The Sony rep who tends to the stores I work at (it's the same region, so even though they are different chains, the same rep goes to both Wal-Mart and GameStop) told my GS boss that they will have to match the price of the DS.
You have seen GBA games for $50, violatd? 0_0
Highest I've seen is $35. IMO, $50 is too much for a handheld game, unless it's as long and fun and good as today's console games.

The average price of a new GBA game where I buy at is around $30. I have never seen a GBA game for more than $40. Maybe $50 could be justified, if say, you got multiple cartridges because of the size of the game.........
Guess I can't really argue that. Well said. Thought you meant just the whole...don't talk about rumors. Rumors are just someone's anticipation spread to everyone else. Or someone else purposely misleading. :?
I don't think it's bashing, though. IMO it's an honest criticism to worry that the PSP might cost $200, which is more than consoles are going for these days. Yeah, it has great graphics, can play music and movies along with games, etc. But even if it's only $150, why should I pay that much for a handheld that is pretty much just a miniature PS2 when I could just get an actual PS2, an XBOX, a Gamecube and a game, or the DS (which due to its two screens and touch panel is not just a handheld version of the N64/Gamecube)?
When it comes down to it, we have the right to complain if we want, unless BV says otherwise. If you don't want to read about rumors of the price, then just avoid these threads.
