The reason I'm asking is,even though I'm not a big fan of the grid system and Blitzball,I'm thinking about buying it.I've noticed a lot of you fellow members like the game.Could you do Kaz a favor and tell me your Likes and Dislikes(if any)about this title? :)

Thank you for viewing.

Hey that's cool you're willing to give it another shot!

Likes-
Story-Not much to say other than it's an excellent story.
Visuals-Superb, even still today.
Characters-I can tell you a few seem annoying at first, but they really, really grow on you.
Locations-FFX has some of the best locations-Thunder Plains, Besaid, Omega Ruins, Macalania Woods, etc.,
Side Quests- Very fun and challenging side quests and one very huge one that can eat more than 100 hours.
Weapons- Awesome weapons, and the ability to customize them {there is also "ultimate weapons" for each part member}.
Enemies- Great array of enemies and some of the optional bosses are utterly insane and can take upwards of half an hour to beat. But damn it feels good when you see them fall!
Summons-Best summons in any FF game {in my opinion}.
Sphere Grid- It really is a great system once you understand it.

Dislikes-
Wakka {he is cool, just didn't like his weapon or attacks so never used him}
Blitzball {kinda fun, but too easy to exploit and win every time}.

Basicially...I think x2 hit all the spots. Or I just really have the same likes and dislike as x2. :lol I did think Wakka was a bit useful for the flying monsters so I ended up using him very often when I level grinded.

That's enough for me.I'm buying it.
Thank you guys. :)

Yeah, I pretty much second what x2 and GamingMaiden said. ^_^

I didn't mind Wakka that much, but the most useful party members to me were Lulu, Yuna, and Auron. Yuna and Auron especially because their ultimate weapons are a lot easier to get than everyone else's.

Wakka is actually useful for flying enemies, though his overdrive is strange and not too useful. Khimari on the other hand had no uses at all that I found. I say bench him and use the precious AP you could have used on him on someone else.

I used Khimari as a back up black mage by taking him into Lulu's area of the sphere grid. I think it was ok. Better than having him on Rikku's part of the grid, anyway.

I seem to remember using Khimari a lot, but not sure how I had him set up. I just thought he was a cool character overall.

I did the same thing =3. and I think it was you who recommended me to do this XD i am not sure

Let's see here... x2 truly did an exemplary job of summarizing the game's pros and cons, so I'll try to avoid being too redundant.

Pros:

- Capably performed voicework
- short learning curve on battle system
- Good story, as far as FF goes.
- Auron
- The sphere grid system is much more engaging and fun than traditional levelling.
- Taking advantage of the recent merger with enix, X incorporated the Star Ocean series' relationship level system, which increased Tidus' compatibility with his comrades to varying degrees based upon the decisions you make when prompted. I've loved the relationship system since SO2 came to America, so of course I count it as a pro.

Cons:

- ... but also a con. Unlike Star Ocean, the aforementioned relationship system only influences a few cutscenes in the entire game, and has no impact on the ending.
- Short gameplay time, even with all sidequests it clocks in under the average length for an FF game.
- As has been addressed, it's very easy to break the Blitzball minigame.
- The sphere grids for all characters are conjoined, meaning that if one devotes themselves to levelling everyone, they eventually make it to where none of the characters are unique. (more of a personal con, as some would argue that's what makes X and XII so good)
- As if square was trying to distance itself from the stoic, silent boys of its latest FF installments, they decided to make the main character of X a whiny, obnoxious jock. He gets better.
- Downer ending

Khimari is my least favorite character. He's completely forgettable. He has no speciality. I mean, even his overdrive pretty much just mimics some monster attacks. I tend to just have him follow Wakka on the sphere grid as a backup body with high dexterity, though as mentioned previously, he is not as effective against airbourne enemies as Wakka is.

How exactly is Blitzball easy to break? I avoided it my first play through the game. I got more into it after beating the game for the first time since I was trying to get Wakka's ultimate weapon & ultimate attack to use in the monster arena.

Once I get a character through their own section of the sphere grid, I avoid picking up new skills for them so they retain their individual function in the group instead of trying to level everyone to have every skillset.

I remember being able to beat just about any game in blitzball by getting Tidus to the middle, passing it to him, and having him do one of his special shots. Once you get him to a certain level he scores basically every time.

Seems like I had a cheap trick like this... except I always used a far right or left position. Can't quite remember though, been a while since I played. Which reminds me, I havn't played this in forever, and i dont think i ever beat it.

Oh you definitely wanna beat it to see the end of the story. All this talk makes me wanna fire it up again myself!

Giving Lulu white mage skills though and Yuna black mage skills can be very helpful. And it's a good idea to take Auron through Tidus' part of the sphere to give him slightly better speed. And Tidus through Auron's part for more power. Etc.
