Playstation $500 for the cheapest model

When it comes to the PS3, I'm going to wait like I did for my PS2. It's the only logical choice being that launch date prices are so flippin' high.

The graphics for one thing. Also, not so much the game as the idea of having to wave around a magic wand as your arm. I was laughing cause of the me not knowing anything bit.   ;)

I know nothing about it? I read a whole 13 pages on it. Ask Griff.  :lol
wait wait wait....

retro is a bit right here.... but remember.... retro is more a Ps2 fan than a Nintendo fan ... at least how that seems as of late.

I am going to say... people... start respecting each other's opinions.

I mean really... we are all speculating right now... and we all have strong opinions. Just be cool with each other (and I am not singling out strubes here... for the record :lol )

I respect everyone's opinions here, didn't mean for it to sound otherwise.

And i'm still a Nintendo fan at heart, i've just been more distracted with PS2 games (mostly Dragon Quest) lately where-as the Gamecube's lost steam.

$600 is way to high for me, especially when I can get a decent video card for my PC for around $200, which is all I really need. I used to be a fan of Sony but those 360's are looking pretty nice right now.....

I paid $600 for the Neo Geo (got a couple games with it though) back in 1993.

Why would I pay that much? back then.... it was Arcade graphics at home... NO OTHER SYSTEM offered that. It was the same thing as having the arcade machine at home.... everything down the line was IDENTICAL... just to make my point... what you played at home on the Neo Geo WAS what you played at the arcade... yes... the carts are the same, just different casings. You got 2 very nice arcade sticks as well.

13 years later.... I still only have 9 games for the home cart system.

that is the only system I would have payed a lot for the games..etc. One of the games I paid $200 for, another I paid $359 for. There was something about the Neo Geo though... it was gaming at it's finest back then. The art work was OUTSTANDING... gameplay (on most games) was top notch... I still love the games. RIP SNK... you will be missed.

I wouldn't pay that much anymore for a system.... probably never again.

You're crazy... :lol... seriously, downright nuckin futs.

Aside from being a hardcore collector with a lot of money on my hands, I would never pay that much for a system, let alone an "arcade-sim" system. Granted, I was never part of the arcade generation, but still, videogames are just not worth that much to me. :lol

According to EGM, Square Enix really is going to remake FFVII for the PS3. That's about the only thing I want for it, but it's totally not worth $600. If I do end up getting a PS3 for its rpgs, it will be sometime way in the future when the system is like $200 or something.

I think we may be talking a handful of year and by that I mean at least 5.

$600 + college student = tough luck...haha I have to live. I decided long ago though that i'm not going to buy a 1st gen system anymore anyways because when i got my ps2 1st gen it pretty much just fell apart in my hands (not literally), so i'll wait it out see what the bugs are and then maybe when the 1st price cut comes i'll scoop one up. I will also have to wait and see the quality of games on release, because the ps2 was very iffy on the release titles!
