After Sony's bombshell announcement on the price of the PS3, I'm looking into other options. I was looking at a lot of Rev stuff (I still refuse to call it Wii) and it really does look... interesting. At the very least I want to try a revolution and see what it actually feels like. But I do find it difficult to abandon regular games entirely. I mean, while some games may be "new" using the wii-mote, I still think some games would be better suited to a standard controller, and I don't want to miss out on good games just because they can't be ported over to the Rev.

I feel very confused. :lol

Up until this point I had kind of written off Nintendo, but now the other two companies have also dissapointed me. I am willing to give credit where credit is due though, Nintendo may be right that more system power alone is no longer going to "cut it" for a new system. But at the same time, I'm not convinced the direction their taking is the right one.

Ah well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

The first step on a long road to Nintendo fanboyism?? :lol

I still say there is nothing wrong with diversity. And the Revolution seems to be capitolizing on the missfortunes of the 360 and PS3.

Good show, Stealth!!

Ah see, like Ive said in the past, the Wii isn't the ultimate system but a fun one that is worth playing. Which is why Ill be getting all three because I too don't want to miss out on any other games.

I don't know what the problem is, stealth. The Wii supports all forms of games as it's fully backward compatible with the GCN controller, not to mention the standard controller shell and the newly revealed neo Zapper.

The Wii can do everything standard consoles can do and more - it's all up to the developers to make it so.

In fact, the new Smash Bros. was confirmed to have NO Wii controller compatiblity (at least at core) and utilizes the GCN controller instead.

Traditional games are not going anywhere.

Yes, I heard that yesterday, and I watched the trailer, and I was very pleased by both. Still, I jumped on the Gamecube bandwagon prematurely, and was thoroughly dissapointed after the first year of owning one. I've since purchased an Xbox and now look back and realize it should have been my first choice to begin with. And while some of you plan on owning all three, that is simply not an option for me. The types and genres of games that I like generally did not appear on the GC. Third party support is a big issue for me, and until I see just what Nintendo is getting in terms of third party support, I will remain cautiously skeptical.

I won't be buying any system on launch date. I'll probably wait for systems to drop two or three times in price before I even look at any of them. Hopefully by then I will be able to see the direction each console is taking in terms of games.

I dont think the Wii really interests me. I would rather just use a reg controller. I can definitely see how people are going to like it though.

Ya, I agree. Depending on how much it costs, I might buy a Rev even if I own another system. I will most likely own one at some point, if the price drops down to what GC's are at now I can't see passing it up, if even just to store all those sweet oldschool games on it. But ultimately my interest in games like Halo 3 and Gears of War (conventional games yes, but expanded to the point that makes past similar games look completely lacking in all departments) outweighs my desire to play something "innovative."

How does the Halo 3 trailer make you feel anything like that? There's nothing in it, nor any details. There's NOTHING about the Halo 3 trailer that makes past games which are similar look completely lacking in all departments. There wasn't even anything about Halo 2 that did such a thing.. nor Halo..

Yea, the only difference is the graphics.

Well, I could understand if the trailer had any real significant meaning, such as a story revelation.. or something. But it doesn't.

If you found Halo 2 to be on par with every other first person shooter, then discussing any of the other matters you mentioned will be completely pointless.

My comments about Halo 3 had little to do with the trailer, and more on the reputation Bungie has made with previous Halo titles. Although, the Halo 3 trailer did remind me that Bungie is great at, if nothing else, making their titles epic in scope. I have every confidence that Halo 3 will be just as much fun as Halo 2, probably more so.

Perhaps I should have said "Bioshock and Gears of War." Irregardless, you probably won't understand my position if you found Halo 2 to be simply average.

Since the end of E3, I have become confused on what system to buy. So I created a plan, I'm going to writ a best-selling book that won't need editing and send it to a publisher. Get paid and buy all three systems. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Those who found Halo to be revolutionary likely had their had up their ass for years, or were simply looking away from the PC market as a whole. I understand you didn't reference Halo directly, but the "reputation" of Bungie would indicate as such.

Make it clear for me, sans X Box Live play and a new "campaign", what did Halo 2 offer over the original?

And excuse me, your statements for Halo 3 made it appear as if they were based on actual content and not feelings left over from previous titles.

Halo 2's multiplayer experience is unparalleled. You just don't like it cause it's not made by Nintendo.

I'm wondering if I should get a Wii on release date or not. At first it was a definite no, that I'd get it later. Now, with Twighlight Princess being a release title, I might change my mind. Is anyone getting theirs on release?

Nah, I just own a PC and I've been having the same experience you have now for years.
