Nintendo's Sales volume decrease drastically

Nintendo published the final finance statement of 3th stage of 2010(From April 1st, 2009 to March. 31st, 2010) on May 6th, 2010. During this year, Nintendo’s sale volume was 1434.3 billion Yen (about 16 billion USD), decreased 22% compare to last year, the net profit was 228.6 billion Yen, decreased 18.1% compare to last year. Nintendo explained the reason is “Yen exchange is always keeping on the high side and the circulation of flagship game software on Wii platform went down sharply.” This is also Nintendo’s first finance year that net profit went down since latest 6 years.

In Nintendo’s expectation of future in this finance report, they Anticipate to launch a new game console---N3DS which can be compatible to NDS series games and with 3D effect without need of any 3D glasses”, in addition, Nintendo will launch <<Pokemon: white/black>>.

After the impact of sluggish market in 2009, I believe Nintendo will gain a brand new look in 2010. So please expect and pay close attention to it! :-*

Considering that their flagship system, the Wii, came out back in 2006, it is no surprise to see sales decreasing. The original DS was released back in 2004; other versions of the DS; the lite, XL, and DSi, are just revamps of the old design.

If the 3DS actually delivers a new game platform, Nintendo might see a sales increase.

Nintendo needs to wake up and smell the coffee. They do produce some good titles but it makes it extremely hard to play when there are zero achievements to unlock, and absolutely no online presence. I hope that this new 3D system has some what of a user friendly online playable attachment. Nintendo I don't ask for much, just give me a gamertag....SOMETHING!!, not a sequence of numbers that change everyday. Who wants to go through all that just to play online for a few hrs? Anyway, I know my rant was a bit off topic but if Nintendo plans on surviving in this new age gaming industry they need to start making some new originals and stop coasting off of there Mario Bros idea from back in the early 1980's. There coasting off of their childhood fame worse then Gary Coleman, good riddance by the way.

Yeah, and I think the combination of shovelware and your more casual gamers falling out (the ones they really marketed the Wii to) could be a big part of the problem too. However, I also agree that the 3DS could really turn things around-- just from everything I've read, I think it will be absolutely huge, and possibly expand the nontraditional market even more than the Wii.

Too soon on the Gary Coleman "good riddance"? :lol

Well the woke up, the smelled the coffee, and pretty much overthrown the throne at E3.

They're losing money, and it's easy to see why.

Because like myself, everyone has blown all their money on Steam deals. :D

But seriously, I've purchased 50 PC games since I've bought any kind of console game.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. So let's wait and see the performance of 3DS.
