Nintendo.... WHY would you go from a really good name... to something that sucks? Tell me you actually did market research on this name.

... regardless... I don't like it. I'll still buy the system... but the name sucks.

Nintendo... go back to the revolution.

I think Nintendo knows what its doing,and trust this will not addversly affect the sale of the system....wait wait...Wii?...Wii?!?!.........

I read the gamespot article, and as one analyst said:

Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter was more mixed in his assessment. "My initial reaction, of course, is that the name is dumb," he bluntly stated. "However, upon reflection, I thought that the name Game Boy was dumb, REALLY thought that the name Xbox was dumb, and can't even recall my reaction to PlayStation. Let's face it, devices with cool names like Dreamcast and Gizmondo fail, and the lame names seem to do well."

If so, I think it would be a little awkward to hear one kid say "hey, wanna play with my Wii?" to another kid.

I heard this at Ebgames today. I desperately wanted to believe it wasn't true. But here is the confirmation.

While the name does not define the console, this does seem to me like Nintendo just shot themselves in the foot. I mean, the name "Wii" is not going to help sell any consoles. At best it will make people reflect on the absurdity of all console names (what's wrong with playstation?), and at worst it's going to make people think twice about buying one.

As if flailing your arms around to play the console was not enough embarassment, now you have to refer to that action as playing "Wii"?

I hope someone got fired over this one. Nintendo hasn't dropped a bombshell this dissapointing since the first clip of Celda at E3.

I don't know why people keep thinking that you need to flail your arms around. It's been stated that you don't, regardless of what the promo video showed.

Anyways, I agree with everything else you said.

I think it'll do well. It's a weird name. Better than the PlayStation and Xbox 360.

It's different, and I like it. That's exactly what I was hoping Nintendo would do.

random 1: Yeah, it was so cool, playing Devil May Cry 4 on my PS3.

Random 2: I play with my Wii a lot more than you play with your PS3.

I don't fully agree with him, but I mostly do. Ps3 is super redundant - it's time for a change but I feel Sony doesn't feel comfortable doing so. I question why.

360 just makes me think they've learned nothing and landed back in the same spot they started. That's what it looks like.
