News on the next Castelvania game

Castlevania guru Koji Igarashi in a Game Informer interview says he's leaning toward Xbox 360 for the next console version of Castlevania. He says that he's focusing on "the best platform for the U.S. market" and that would be in his opinion the Xbox 360. He goes on to the say that the US market is the "biggest market" for the series, so he's giving priority to the Xbox 360. He doesn't rule out dual development but says it "would be very tough" and that if Metal Gear Solid 4 expands the PS3 market they may release the next Castlevania on PS3 as well.

Still in business mode, Igarashi went on to explain Castlevania for the Wii. He says that Nintendo dominates their own console and third party titles are not so great in sales. He says he's researching how to make Castlevania work on the system in the future and it's about getting the whip motion to work properly instead of having players waggle like Zelda. Igarashi finishes by saying that the next DS Castlevania should be announced in the "near future."

To sum it up:

-Igarashi is developing the next one for the 360, which is in his opinion, the best system for the U.S. market.
-If MGS4 helps raise PS3 sales, the next Castlevania might show up on that as well.
-He doesn't like Nintendo Wii's lack of third party support, but is planning Castlevania games for it for the future.
-He says the next DS Castlevania will be announced soon.

I like 2D Castlevania games. I wish they would use the systems' power to make a really awesome 2D Castlevania instead of trying to make a mediocre 3D Castlevania.

If they can make something as awesome as Odin Sphere on the PS2, imagine what a next-gen 2D game could look like on the 360 or PS3.

Long Live SOTN!!!!

Aria of Sorrow was a nice fix, but I still play the original and still enjoy the heck out of it... That game just has SO much replay value...

Too bad that Metroid went the same way... I was disappointed in the gameplay of metroid prime and would LOVE a new 2D style metroid game.

Cool. I kind of hope it will be a 3D game. I actually like Curse of Darkness more than Symphony of the Night. That's not saying that SOTN is a horrible game, because it's not. I think that the Castlevania series on the console should move towards 3D.

Now I must say I am rather stoked for this. Especially since it is comming out on 360'.

I'm going to have to do some more work on my list. :D Because I have this funny feeling that this may actually be, or at least come to second best, out of all the Castelvania games so far. But we'll just have to wait and see.
