New video of Banjo Kazooie showing off new Motion-Controller?

About 4 minutes into a new Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts developer commentary video, Microsoft Game Studios creative director, Ken Lobb, drops the line, "So you basically grab with the wrench and then you twist the controller around and it'll move different things in the game." Twist, you say? Earlier, we catch Kazooie doing just that: twisting an Xbox 360 controller (recreated above; full video embedded after the break). So what do we make of all this?

Well, there's that nagging rumor of some Abracadabra action going on behind closed doors at Microsoft, with Rare allegedly being one of the first studios to waggle the magic wand before passing it up for Vision cam support in the upcoming XBLA title, The Fast & The Furriest. It's not much of a stretch to assume that if Microsoft is to unveil a motion controller (say, next week!), Banjo-Kazooie could be one of the first titles to support the new feature. Waggletech® isn't exactly cutting edge or expensive, so a hardware manufacturer can essentially tack on motion sensitivity at any point (to varying degrees of success).

One theory suggests that Microsoft could install motion control into preexisting gamepads with an add-on device; perhaps a modified battery pack that also plugs into the headset port. Bundle the gizmo with Banjo-Kazooie, and you've got yourself a tried and true practice. Case closed? Certainly not.

It's already ruining the series. Why not just completely destroy it with motion-sensing now?

motion sensing doesn't destroy a game, is just a way to control the game, as long as it works who cares???

also we don't know yet if the game is good or bad, so let's wait until is released

lol I'm not waiting till every game in existence is released to have an opinion on what it's going to be like...nor will I buy every game in existence to have a valid opinion either. They're making this game mostly vehicle-based which is upsetting alot of faithful fans..and now they're throwing unneeded motion-sensing into it. Motion-sensing doesn't kill a game (look at Zak and Wiki), but I just think it's dumb that they're adding it.

i'm not telling you to buy or play every game in existence LOL, when we watch trailers of games we can only "guess" how the game is going to be like but it is wrong to judge something before even trying it (it's called prejudice i think but ) have you ever heard of "never judge the book by it's cover"? it is the same thing. with movies, books, games and people.

I've heard of it. Do I practice it? Not too often. To try a game, I'd have to rent or buy it. I don't feel like spending that much money.

Wouldn't LAIR fall quite nicely under unneeded motion sensing? 'Cause you only seem to praise Six-Axis motion now, and even when the 360 controller is only tilting, as well, you're just saying that they're gonna cram as much motion into the game as possible(which you also seem to do a lot).

lol nice call. Though Lair's been patched and now supports analog controls. Having an option is alot better than forcing it.

Except how long did it take the patch to come out again?

and it had to come out because the motions did not work at all =/ so as long as motions work there should be no problem.

The majority of people didn't know how to use it. Though Mega thought it worked just fine, so I'd value his opinion over even the majority. Though this argument is getting us nowhere. I don't like that they're using motion-control in a Banjo Kazooie game and you guys obviously have a problem with my opinion.

It's not that, it's just that you're saying this has unnecessary motion while you loved LAIR, which forced you to do everything with motion.

and it's also the fact that you are giving an opinion of something you have not experienced yourself nor even had an idea of what is like

I tried looking around but couldn't find anything saying I loved Lair. I never owned it...only saw some game play...and wouldn't buy it unless it went to $20.

Mega and I have had no problems figuring out how to control it. Too bad most of the reviewers did.

You've never played any of the games, so how would you know what's good or not?

Heavenly Sword
Ratchet and Clank Future
Lair
Uncharted
Haze
Resistance

Lair was sweet, so if they work on this, I'll be at least hopeful.

Yeah, I know...we should play some PS...oh...that's right..you don't have a PS3. I forget how you know how motion sensing is for it. The PS3, at least for Drakes Uncharted, is better than most Wii game motion controls. Lair was easy too. Famitsu liked it. Most American gamers couldn't figure it out. Japan did really well though. Same with Mega and I.

Yeah. :P

(The second quote doesn't really prove anything, but it's really ironic, at the very least)

Good call cherry! I was waiting for you of all people to find that for me. And kudos for having that much time to locate all of those. :lol

Though...I've never played it. :lol

When someone explains something to me, or how to control it, I figure it can't be that hard for me. Hence, the second quote.

The third quote...I don't get it. I never had Haze either. Those weren't a list of games I had. I would guess just a list of exclusives.

Lair had some pretty solid gameplay videos. I thought it was sweet. Hence the 4th quote.

I did like Lair. Do I have to play a game to like it? Oh yeah, I forgot where I'm at. :lol
