Neo Geo CD Neo Geo CD Black Screen Problem

Guys,
I have a Neo CD toploader I got off eBay non working, basically the issue is that there is no picture when you boot the system with either composite or RGB scart lead (from the 8 pin DIN) connected.

I can hear the Neo CD boot screen sound through both connectors, and my PAL TV even 'jumps' into NTSC mode, as with all my working NTSC consoles - it looks like it is picking up the sync, so why won't it display any other image?

I have taken it apart, and from a quick look, I can't see anything obvious. Is the fault likely to be with the main board, or a problem with the connector board where the power and video sockets are?

All help appreciated.
Cheers,
Paul

Was a video mod ever attempted on this system?

and... just to cover bases... your TV works with PAL correct? If the system is a European PAL system... the NTSC version doesn't work on an NTSC based tv. The Brazillian PAL systems do work with NSTC tv's.

Does not look like the system has ever been opened before, no mod has been attempted...

It is a Japanese NTSC system, but I have another working system, so I know there is no problem with my TV set-up, all my NTSC systems run fine on it, RGB or Composite (I am in the UK, and have avoided PAL consoles since the 16-Bit era, even my PS3 is US).

Strange that it plays sound through either connector, and syncs at 60hz, but displays nothing...

Cheers,
Paul

I am going to say... that is very odd.

have you attempted use the S-video connection with a regular S-video cable?
If composite and S-video are not working, I would think it has to be something with the mainboard or a component with the display connectors.
