Left 4 Dead Rulez!!!! <3 AnnaSophia Robb <3
Ok well I'm getting a job soon and i am planning on saving up for a new computer I'm planning to get it professionally built.

It will be mainly for gaming so what can you recommend for me to get?

I will be happy with anything that could run the following games on the highest settings

Spore, Left4dead,Turok and Crysis

I'm planning to pay at the highest $3000 for this computer.

Spore, Left4dead,Turok and Crysis

You're gonna have to ask NASA for a computer to play that last one one highest. :lol

But anyways, with a $3000 budget, there's really nothing you can't buy, since it's a custom built. At most, a good custom built rig won't top $1200, and your proffessional labor probably won't even cost a few $100 if even that.

Anyways:

Processor: Make sure it's at least a high end Core 2 Duo. If you really have money to burn, look into some Quad cores.

Video card: Anything in the 88xx series for Nvidia, and HD 38xx series for ATi. Once again, if you have money to burn, you could look into SLI or Crossfire.

RAM: 2 GB or more. Most games are putting their min at 1.5 GB now. I'm assuming Vista uses more memory then XP, hence the high requirements (I may be wrong there though)

Operating System: Vista, or XP if you really hate Vista. I'd reccomend Vista though, since all new games are going to be needing it within a year or two, and if you're going all out, Vista's the only way to get DirectX 10.

Hard Drive: Generally, bigger is better. If you have money to burn and don't need too much space, you can look into the super fast Raptor hard drives.

PSU: 500+ Watts, generally more, depending on what you're stuffing your computer with. Make sure that the 12v rails combine to be well over 20-30 Amps.

Not much else I can think of.

Thanks heeps Nova:D

Um I'm probley gonna pack quite a bit on my computer if every thing goes to plan so i would probley want ALOT of space.

Now I'm not to good with computers but is there any way i could get like say 200 to 300 gig worth of hard drive space orrr is that to much? :lol

Ill have ALOT to burn I'm hoping my wage will be around $500 or more a week so just in case Ill probley end up saving like $4000 just so i wont have to worry about not having enough money.

These are the games i got planned to put on it once i get it so far

1.Spore
2.Left4dead
3.Turok
4.Crysis (if i can run it on medium even that would be good)
5.Everquest 2 (mabey)
6.Prey
7.Half-Life 2

And thats all i got at the moment

Everything you could ever need for a while, $2000 before shipping and MIRs.

Processor: You could pick up a core 2 quad for a couple hundred bucks, or you could really go all out and get a core 2 extreme, or xeon, for about $1000.

GPU: I would say an 8800 GT or better.

RAM: With such a high budget, I say go for 4 gigs.

OS: Vista. If you're gonna use it for gaming, Vista is recommended.

Hard-drive: Again, with the high budget, I would get a tb hard-drive

I'm not too sure on a motherboard, or something like that, but an Intel one would probably be a safe bet.

For what purpose exactly? It's not going to noticeably perform any better, save for an extra few seconds difference in a huge video/3D render. Maybe 1-2 FPS at most.

Throwing a core 2 extreme in the thing will mean you're set on a processor for quite a while so longevity would be the main reason.

It's not going to last much more, if at all, than a standard processor. Unless you're hardcore overclocking (I'm talking at least water, if not phase change or liquid nitrogen cooling) with extreme voltmodding and trying to beat a benchmark world record, the Extreme Edition processors from Intel are a complete waste of money. The only advantage they offer is an unlocked multiplier, which means absolutely nothing for anyone not trying to push their clocks as far as they can before electron migration or physical damage.

How good is NewEgg with MIR's? I hate MIR's.

I do too! I actually think it lies more on the specific manufacturer rather then Newegg themselves. I could be wrong on that, though.

Yeah, Newegg has nothing to do with it. Just make sure to keep a copy of everything you send, fill everything out perfectly, and fill them out as soon as you make sure the hardware works (in case of RMA). Also, if you're getting two of something with a rebate (RAM, for instance), make sure not to get all of it on the same order, or get some from Newegg and the other stuff from ZipZoomFly to take advantage of both rebate instances.
