Mario 128

I hear about this title and it sounded pretty interesting. Does anyone know about this game? How will you control mario? Then again its Mario, either way im sure it will be awsome!

Mario 128 has remained a mystery for several years now.. when it was first shown at Space World, it was just 128 Marios doing something or other - it looked kind of like a puzzle game to me. It has been witheld since then. Essentially it was touted as being a traditional Mario title for Cube or next-generation, which is obviously next-generation. It is presumably the title that is going to launch with the Revolution, as Nintendo has stated that it will never again launch without a traditional Mario title...

I'm really interested, but I'm keeping my hopes down until I learn a little bit more. I don't see how that almost-puzzle looking game could turn in to a traditional Mario game.

What I'd REALLY like to see is an entire Mario game based around those secret levels in Mario Sunshine. The ones with the random assortment of blocks that you had to navigate without the water pack? Pure platforming fun on some of those. I'd play that game again just for those. Lovely. The rest of the game was rendered so so so so so so easy by that damn water pack. . .

Those were really good, and my favorite part of that game as well.

Hot damn, we agree!

For all I'm concerned, the game should have just been non-stop levels like that and, well, forget everything else in the title.. Solid platforming, but the game lacks luster sadly. :( Mario 64 sweeps it up in spades. At that time it was still acceptable to utilize block-texture.. which makes it easy.

I have been waiting for this game for sooo long! I guess it would not be 128 though, if they do it for the Wii, huh? Wouldn't they have to do it on the cube for it to be "128"?

I never got that far in SMSS what are the secret levels?

When you accessed the secret levels in Sunshine, you were stripped of the power pack and put in to an area that had no solid grounding - it was just a string of blocks moving around in space. Essentially it was pure platforming. It felt and looked a lot like Super Mario 64, played very similarly too. In this mode you had to rely on doing cool jumps (well, you could make it all look cooler and faster than it actually was), unlike the rest of the game where you just hover around.. :-(

So it is just the dootie doo levels where it sounds like ladies are singing to you. I am glad those levels were in the game for variety, but I liked the normal levels better.
