is the PSP worth it

ive been thinking of buying a psp for some time. i love to listen to music, and my 500mb MP3 player just isnt cutting it, and My razr can only hold so much. should i bother with a psp or just get and ipod video?

Well if you're looking for tons of room for music then the PSP is probably not what you wanna be looking at. An Ipod will hold much more music and such, but if you're looking to get a lil bit of everything then the PSP is the way to go. :D

hmm. hard decision. i do need room for music..yet id like to be able to watch movies, play games and the like. maybe a mega memory pack?

well... if you are looking for and all in one.. the PSP would be the way to go.

I'm not fond of the Ipod video deal.... (I guess I never really played around with one). Ipods are somewhat expensive.... but so is the PSP... and if I am right, video formats are a little restricted... unless they changed that with some of the newer firmware releases.

But... if you want something for gaming as well... I'd say try the PSP. Beware.... make sure you get a screen protector! :)

Truer words were never spoken. I've got a few handheld systems and I must say the PSP has the most sensitive screen I have ever had to deal with. :lol

Yeah from what I have heard people usually complain about the screen being too sensitive, and the battery life.

Well the battery ain't too bad, the Game Gear was the worst as far as battery life was concerned.

Battery Life doesn't top out the Game Gear by all that much, but the lithium ion makes for fair game.

I wouldn't recommend it, personally. I bought it for launch price (which I believe it is still at) and I've used it only a handful of times. While it did come in handy on the flight out to E3 to watch Spiderman and listen to a few Mp3s.. I'd much rather get an iPod for the music experience and leave the gaming to the Nintendo systems.

And what's with the firmware crap? I purchased Virtua Tennis the other day because I love the game on the Dreamcast, only to find out I have to update firmware to play it? I don't think I'll be giving my PSP much attention in the near future. Le sigh, money lost.

Go with a DS and an iPod.

I agree with Sartori.

By the time you buy enough storage for your music on the PSP, you'll easily be spending more than an iPod.

iPods are competively priced. You'll be hard pressed to find an MP3 player that has the same functions and storage for cheaper. Only a few MP3 players surpass the iPod and they are around the same price range, usually about $20 more. They do have more features though. Like the Creative Zen:M, I think that's the name.

Usually you'll find really good prices on used iPods or MP3 players on Ebay. So if you don't mind using it then you should check there.

So if you want a better screen and be able to play games then go with the PSP. If you want more storage and music is really important to you then get an iPod or a similar MP3 player, like the Creative Zen:M.

I have an Ipod video, and well really i only use it for music i have some funny clips i downloaded off the web on it, but i had to search all over to find a program that would format the vid into a ipod usable vid...i am also curious about the PSP...especially since you can download ps1 games now or so i've heard!

ill just go with the iPod video.... ill get the 30 gig....not used though. and besides...the PSP is too bulky to carry. thanks for the advice

definately get the psp! you can do so much with both but i chose psp and i love it. it may be to bulky (true) but it's your choice.

psp is a little better because you can get new memory cards anytime

That cost quite a bit. Especially if you want to store video.

Although it seems the PSP is starting to come into it's own now. Ive seen some new games released for it that are really good. But don't get a PSP for video or for music. There are better choices than the PSP for that.

I don't consider the PSP bulky at all. It's a little one the long side but it's still pretty slim and even in my Protek Case it still fits comfotably in my pocket. :D

I was a former Nintendo fan boy that had a VERY one-track mind. Keeping that in mind I was very negative with the PSP. But after playing one for a few months (my friends) I must say I do like the system. Games like Naruto, monster hunter and Grand theft auto really changed my perspective on the entire system. I own a DS and I love it, but I plan to buy a PSP in the future.

So I would suggest playing the titles previously mentioned before making a choice. It’s really about the games not “it has PS2 graphics” or “on-line game play”.

Not if you shop smart ;) Those Memory Stick Duo's are so easy to get a hold of. Ebay is loaded with bargains for those 1GB or 2GB from time to time.

Heck, I went to best buy and got a 512MB for $19.99
