Is the 3DS cool er sucky? Does it hurt ur head?

My husband super bad wants a 3ds, and I'll admit that they, and some of the games for them look pretty cool....

But, I have heard from a friend that he tried one and it made him feel sick and he had to quit playing after a bit....and I read in a gamer magazine that it it worse then virtual boy was.

So, truthfully, virtual boy did suck for trying to play for any extended period of time...is it going to feel like that to me? Am I going to have head aches from it if I wanna play for two er three hours straight? Am I going to get nauseous? or dizzy?

It seems odd that it would get released if it is worse then virtual boy?

So, for those of you that tried or owned it, before I go putting my money down for this thing...is it worth it? Is it comfortable to play?

Thanks :)

Ok...I've used my 3DS for quite a while and I do use the 3D feature of it frequently and I can safely say it is not nearly as bad as the virtual boy was.

With that in mind though it is different for each and every person. Some people don't feel a thing while others get headaches after playing for a while.

but I do have to say that when I started it felt very weird to play with the 3D, but after a while I just got used to it.

If anything you don't have to play with the 3D on.

The 3D is fine for me. I don't get any headaches or feel sick or anything after playing it for a while.
I always play with the 3D on, too. ;)

But of course, if it does make you sick, you can always turn the 3D off, or down a little. ^^

No it's not sucky. It's quite nice and a lovely piece of hardware, but thank God you can turn off the 3D effects whenever you wish. The games are fun and quite unique.

That magazine you read was wrong to compare it to the Virtual Boy. It's not headache inducing as the BLACK & RED Death Star.

It is very comfortable to play and it does have Netflix on it as well. Don't forget you can play original Nintendo DS games on this device as well.

I will admit that I was biased towards the system, but actually owning one and playing it on your own is a totally difference experience.

There's some great games coming out for it in the future, too.

Like everyone else said, the 3D isn't that bad. And you can turn it off. For the most part it has no effect on gameplay so you won't be missing anything. :)

So can I play 3d games with the 3d turned off too er no? I suppose they would look way weird with the 3d turned off tho?

Thanks for ur input everyone. Its really encouraging :)

I am going to give you the example of Dead or Alive.

when 3D is on the game looks awesome, kicks and sparks fly off the screen and you can feel that you have tiny figurines fighting on your screen.

but when 3D is off the game looks more fluid and smooth, things don't fly off the screen but everything moves so smoothly.

basically when 3D is on the frame rate is lower but things can be impressive, but when it is off the frame rate picks up and animation is smoother, is a give and take kind of deal.

Oh really? Well, that is awesome then, cuz I don't care much bout 3d and I was concerned bout the games hurting my head er making me sick, but it is the 3d games I wanna play, but if they look good with the 3d turned off then there is nothing stopping me from getting it. Thankyou so much. This is great news!

Remember that 25% of the world population cannot see it. That's 25% chance to return home awfully disappointed.

I ask the optical doctor about it and he told me that even those people who can see it are in different level some few maybe able to see it even better than normal other much less. The effect also vary, some can play all they want while other get tired much much faster. You learn here is that it is hard to take people feed back about the 3D as people got different experience it is better for you to see it your self whither it is your thing or not.

Unreliable technology the 3D is. wish Nintendo invested their time and money on something else more reliable, something general that MORE people can enjoy.

Ya, trying it out for myself would be a good idea. :) I wish they had put the time into making more cool games instead, but I think I will prolly get one anyhow :)

I bought one over Black Friday... It is definitely cool. I play with the 3D on and off... and to confirm what Gameboy stated: IT IS NOT like the Virtual Boy. I still have my Virtual Boy...

My 3DS looks better since I brought it home... the store displays do not do the system justice. The 3DS is having a hard time catching on... but I think it is a good buy. I only have 2 games right now:
Ocarina of time... and Steel Diver.

I bought my 4 year old daughter one for christmas and she adores it. Not playing gba games means her worn out DS still gets some play but she hardly puts it down. she's actually made it to world 5 in mario 3d land. The AR cards are fun but a little useless and the 3d camera is neat as well, and the game library is to the point now where there's always something good to play. It's finally worth the money, grab one of the bundles though, $10 extra for one of the two best games on the system is the way to go.

:lol there are some ideas for the 3D camera... and one of my co-workers had a lot of fun with the 3D camera.

It really depends on what you guys like... even if you do not use the 3D on a 3DS, it is still pretty cool. I've heard it made other people sick... on the other hand, it is impossible for a percentage of the population to even see the 3D effect.

I like it. I think it is cool. I only have 2 games for the 3DS: Steel Diver, and Ocarina of Time. I just don't have time to buy any more games for the system.

I've been tempted to buy one, but every time I go I can only find one game I actually am interested in. It doesn't seem worth buying just for Zelda Ocarina of Time. What other games have you played and really enjoyed? I enjoy pretty much everything but sports games.

Super Mario 3d land is awesome. Most fun I've had with a mario game since super mario bros. 3 on the nintendo. Cave Story, Skylanders, Pilot Wings, Star Fox, all great as well. Next month Kid Icarus will be out as well. Theres also some good titles for a more specific gamer type Nintendogs and cats, I think tales of the abyss is out, super monkey ball is out, cheap, and fun in short bursts. Theres good worthwhile stuff, its a decent system.

Steel Diver is an ok game. I had fun with it... I don't get bored of things easily though and I see others not enjoying it for very long. Regardless... I found it to be a fun game.
