I have, and it is great. If anything, it's good to vent out anger after a tough game of F-Zero GX.
I've never played the first, so I have no idea what that's like.
Anyway, it's free-roaming like GTA, only replace guns with cars and lamposts :lol There's apparently aout 90 something moves you can buy:
1. Critical Mass attacks powerful attacks that can be executed with extra health, most cover a large area to clear out your enemies.
2. Regular moves: Basic things like some extra combo moves to air dashing to becoming a mid-air cannonball.
3. Weaponizations: Best thing since sliced bread, and something I don't use enough. The most glorified is Steel Fists, which allow you to rip apart a car and turn it into steel boxing golves for extra damage. Shield allows you to take, say, a bus, and smash it down the middle so it works like a shield. Extras include shield grinding, which you just ride around on it like a snowboard and anything in the way is knocked out of the way. There's also my favorite: Bowling. This allows you to take the burger model off of the restaurent sign and literally use it as a bowling ball :lol. Lotsa fun
In order to buy all of this stuff, you need smash points. To get these smash points, you need to do one or all of the follwing:
1. Break and blow stuff, the most common way.
2. Story and Challenge missions, these can earn you some points, challenge missions give you points based on how well you did in them, be it how many cars you kicked across to the goal posts, or batting soldiers from a helicopter.
3. Laying around: some random 2,000 point ones are hidden around. There's also a few 10,000 hidden inside the few destructable buildings in the game.
Downsides:
There's only 2 areas, The City, and The Badlands. The city is the better of the two, IMO, simply because there's buildings and such everywhere, and more people and cars, etc, to play around with. It was meant to be given the look of Manhatten and such, which is actually down nicely.
The Badlands quite literally suck, it's smaller and there isn't much to play around with it in. It's the place to be though if you want to be constantly wrecking tanks.
I would've prefered more Critical Mass abilities. There's technically only three, 2 others are just air versions of two, and ones just heavy direct damage. Not that the Critical abilities are bad or anything, there's just not much variety.
One nice thing is all the cheat codes in the game, of which about 30 are found through comic books scattered around the levels (Packages to you GTA fans). There's only about 60 (or was it 40), and most give either codes or smash points. Some codes give you different shorts to wear, like American, Canadien, Spanish, German, etc. (flag shorts). Even Joe Fixit, the Grey Hulk, is availiable, who announces random and funny quotes from time to time.
One of my favorite cheats causes "road rage"/"crazy traffic", which makes all the cars ignorant of their sorroundings, excluding stoplights. If one car stops at a ligh, the rest will ram into the back. Withou the code, they act normally, except when you're close-by, which makes them go nuts.
The story isn't to bad either, it's what you'd expect from a comic book series.
The last one might've stunk, but this one got high ratings everywhere. NP gave it 8.5, mind you this game is third-part, and many other places gave it 4/5 or 8/10. It's a great game with a few minor drawbacks. It really just depends on how fast you'll get bored of throwing stuff around.
