Ikaruga lands this Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade

One of the most anticipated downloadable ports in recent memory is headed to the Xbox Live Arcade on Wednesday, as Ikaruga has been announced as this week's downloadable release.

Though largely a straight port of Treasure's arcade/Dreamcast/GameCube cult favorite shoot-'em-up, the Xbox Live Arcade version of Ikaruga comes complete with two-player co-op play (both local and online), leaderboards, and an all-new record/replay function. Ikaruga will be available for 800 Microsoft points ($10) on Wednesday, April 9th at 1:00am (PDT). Check out our hands-on impressions from the Tokyo Game Show for more on this strategic shooter port.

Also on tap for early Wednesday morning are two new premium content packs for Void Star Creations' acclaimed puzzler, Poker Smash. The Environment Pack will add two new settings to the Action Mode, while the Puzzle Pack is set to deliver 15 more puzzles (to bring the grand total to 70). Each pack will be sold for 100 Microsoft points ($1.25).
 
Ikaruga?! No way!

I'm absolutely freaking out about this. I'm a bit behind the times on 360 stuff, but I have one at the house and do play it every once in awhile. But I just saw that Ikaruga's now for sale in the Marketplace... I can't believe it. I've always wanted to play this game, but it's far too rare on the GC for me to get ahold of it unless I pay big bucks. But now I hear it's on the Arcade... I'm so buying this when I get some cash (yes I know it's cheap, but I'm broke). :p

Anyone downloaded it yet? How is it?

Yeah it's not bad for $10. Did you know there's another shooter on XBLA already too? I forgot the name of it, has an odd name. Yet try it out, it's not too bad either, but not as superb as Ikaruga of course!

It's not gonna change the GC version's rarity. :p But I'm extremely happy about this.

Triggerheart Exelica is the other Japanese Shooter game.
