How important are achievements to you?

..and how fast did you acquire your current gamerscore?

Reason I'm asking is that I have had my Xbox around 5 weeks now, and all my friends at work seem astonished that my gamerscore is already 4590 (as of tonight). They seem to poke fun in a friendly sort of way, that I am OCD and take it too far with trying to unlock all the achievements. But truthfully I only play an average of 2 hours a day after my kids go to bed, and a little more on weekends.

So what is your current gamerscore, and how long did it take you to get there? That might be handy to know if I'm actually some sort of over achiever, or my friends are just slackers....

lol I think your friends are just jealous.

Good job on collecting those achievements,

achievements aren't that important to me. i play CSS on my computer via steam and there are like a million achievements and i dont really care if i get them all. im just playing for the fun of it :)

I don't have a 360, but I love Steam achievements and PS3 Trophies. I wouldn't necessarily say they're important to me when I purchase a game, but once I've beaten it, it gives it a little more replay value, to go back and get any achievements/trophies you missed.

I think the 360 achievement system is nice but broken. The more games you play the better score you get, it has nothing to do with skills. also often times 750/1000 of the score is collected by simply playing the game and beating it in the normal or lowest difficulty, while the few left would take days or months and/or high skills to collect that simply playing and beating another game would save you time and get you a far better score.

The PS3 trophy and at the time being is the best and almost flawless. For one the score thingy is implemented through the experience point system so it exactly got ALL what the 360 has and more. Taking the easy way in games would get you must of the trophies all right but they are mostly worthless bronze to get the better and pride worthy silver/gold trophies you need to work for them and not mention super awesome platinum trophies.

I think trophies add a lot to the games. I cannot wait for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD for PS3 for the trophy alone. :drool

No wonder you feel that way. Steam achievement really suck if anything it encourages you to avoid collecting them as much as possible.

I don't bother with achievements unless I really enjoy the game. For me it's just the game experience, if I get one, awesome. If not, no big deal. It doesn't add anything but a score that technically means very little. Mostly just to show what you've played and how much you played it.

If I don't enjoy a game, I just beat it and move on, unless it's really bad then I just don't play it all the way through.

I'm heading up on my third month owning my xbox now, and my score is 5585.

I'm at about 24,200 and I've been playing for 2-years. I usually just play a lot of games on their highest difficulty, and that often times leads to a lot of achievements fairly quickly.
