Good Morning,Good Evening,Good Afternoon,

Are there some game titles that belong to series such as "Final Fantasy",Dragon Quest",etc. that you can only get in Japan? If so,why?

God bless.

There could be a lot of reasons. Perhaps they didn't think it would make any money in the U.S. Then again the Lost Levels on Super Mario All Stars was Super Mario 2 in Japan. Te reason we didn't get it was because they deemed it too hard for us simpletons. There are certainly other reasons but you would have to ask the developer to know exactly why a certain game doesn't make it here.

There are a lot of games in the "Tales of" series by Namco Bandai that have never come over here. Tales of the Tempest and Tales of Innocense for the DS, Tales of Rebirth and Tales of Destiny Director's Cut for PS2 are some examples.

Personally, I can't even think of a reason other than Namdai makes horrible business decisions for some reason when it comes to the Tales series. This is the same company that, after releasing Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube and getting the best sales for a Tales game ever (and it's still the best selling Tales game), released the next two Tales games on the PS2; and one of them, Tales of the Abyss, was released right before Final Fantasy XII.

Banco ^.^ Namdai!

Honestly, it's just loyalty to the Japanese market that calls this decision. I feel like they never really let the outside markets appericate what they have or they freak out over poor sales it seems.

The thing that sucks though about the Tales series in particular is that I'm sure part of the reason is because of the sales in North America, and the main reason why it's never sold well over here is because Namdai doesn't know how to advertise their games. Tales of Symphonia did really for many reasons, but one of the main things was that NOA took care of all the advertising. Tales of the Abyss was every bit as good as ToS; but it was released on the PS2 right before the release of Final Fantasy XII. It was the worst timing possible, especially since FFXII had like a million types the hype of Tales of the Abyss. I still think it would have sold a lot better if it had been released on the Gamecube instead.

They believe it won't make profit. That's it. Businesses want money. That's why Nintendo hates the Mother series. Earthbound sold poorly 14 years ago. Plans to try again? Nope.
