Have things slowed down with the PSP?

Sony didn't meet their expectations.... but I am curious... have things slowed down?

After the dust settled, what do people think about the PSP?

Its a great handheld but wont beat Nintendo unless they pump out more quality titles. Memory sticks need to be cheaper, imo. And there has to be an easier way to transfer video files. Other than that its a very nice system.
 
Sure, now that the system is out, initial sales have dropped off. I'm sure that they're still selling though.

You need a special program from sony or some third party that makes video files readable by Memory sticks. And even if you do make the conversion sometimes the PSP wont even recognize it. I havent tried it yet, since im on a Mac. They dont have the software for Mac, and im not done building my PC yet.
 
im not big on handheld systems but even though i like sony i dont think that they will ever catch nintendo in that race.. no matter what they do.
 
if you are talking about the DS and PSP the DS is currently "wining" but if you talking about just the gameboy franchise i mean the gameboy advance alone has sold over 6,000,000 units so i don't think Sony will ever destroy the Gameboy
 
GameBoy franchise should be like a "Scared Straight" program for any other portable system...it would be like

Gameboy Says: "Hey! You little %^&! Im talking to you!!! I DID LIFE for KILLING FOUR PORTABLE GAME SYSTEMS!! DO YOU THINK I GIVE A %^&* ABOUT YOU?!?! DON'T YOU KNOW I WILL RAPE YOU PSP!"

Gameboy says: NGPC, GameGear, Atari Lynx, Ngage, Turbo Express, Nomad, the list goes on and on! I have killed 6 times AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO KILL AGAIN SON!! Don't mess with me!!
 
I for one LOVE the PSP, if you have the ca$h then it is a VERY worthy investment, as for the sales, I think that once they sell the PSP out of the bundle pack and drop the price to 150$ for the PSP alone and 200$ for the bundle pack, and drop game prices to 30$ and 40$ then they will sell like crazy!
 
see, old schooler has a point, they should give the people more variety of bundles these days (If Japan can do it, why can't we?)

Thats what I thought they were going to do over here. I was a little shocked to see that they were only going to sell the bundle pack.
 
yup, I felt it was unfair to let the consumers of the US not have a choice. Then again the bundle pretty much gives you everything you pretty much need.

but they don't sell in bundles.. EXCEPT with the spiderman movie, soft cloth, case, memory card, and headphones.

and honestly, I don't see the price of the psp coming down any time soon... even if they took out the pack-in items... I doubt you would get lower than $180-200. If they took out those items... you would have to buy a memory card yourself, plus case, and a soft cloth... you can't go without those items.

here is why they wont do that

the psp is a VERY expensive system just to manufacture. so they give you these "bundle items" to make it look like its worth 250$ its not.

they will loose a crazy amount of money if they drop the price.
 
Yes, the holy SOFT CLOTH of Goodness! It was blessed by the oompa loompas of Sony!

FF7 Master is right, knowing Sony they will not budge on a price break until next year at least, because that's how they did it with PS2 and PS1
 
yeah... but once the DS releases its SM64 and DS bundle for $150... its going to get pummeled for awhile, don't you think?

man... that softcloth..... all I have to say is "no wonder they included it." It is a blessing to finger smears.
