Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
July 27th, 1989. The Famicom (Japanese NES) received the very first MOTHER (aka EARTHBOUND) game.
On this day in 1989, the first MOTHER game was released in Japan, for Nintendo's Famicom. Sadly in North America we only saw it's sequel MOTHER 2 on the Super Nintendo only back in 1995. Disappeared for many years and spawned a sequel on GBA, MOTHER 3. Which never saw the light of day in America.
Other honorable mentions was the re-release of MOTHER 1 + 2 on GBA which did not come to America and the ill-fated EARTHBOUND 64 which never even made it past BETA steps of it's childhood.
Regardless, for those of us who remember or still have the chance to play it. Happy 20th Birthday Earthbound!
