Happy 9th Birthday PS2! Oct 26th, 2009

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
A little late, but Happy 9th Birthday! To a console that STILL within stands the test of time! A system that killed the Dreamcast, outsold the original Xbox & GameCube. Caused the DVD format wars, has had more problems reading disc than a 3DO (which it STILL does), made backwards compatibility feel awesome, and has been remodeled many times so far. Somehow managed to out sell it's own brothers, the PSP and PS3 during 2006-2008.

Is it immortal? Has it given us the Best decade of our gaming lives? I say YES! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!

It will probably be another 10 years before my PS2 isn't my most played console. I just have so many good games for it and still so many good ones to buy yet.

I got my ps2 in 2006 FOR FREE =D Metal Gear Solid 2 was my first beaten game. That game was great but its the RPG's that really steal the spotlight for me for this console. Wait, cant forget shadow of the colossus =D

Hmm I think my first game was Smugglers Run. I do remember getting MGS2 for xmas one year and wow what an experience that was!

Good ol' PS2. Sometimes I still play it, mainly for arcade, action/adventure, and RPGs such as Square-Enix's remake of Dragon Quest V: Tenkuu no Hanayome which was released in 2004 before it was remade for the Nintendo DS this year.
As for the graphics in my collection of PS2 games, recently I have started using PS3 Component Video Cables on my PS2 and the picture looks way better than the quality of AV and S-Video combined because I can do that with my HDTV, especially when I'm playing Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories in widescreen mode.
The only problem that sucks for me is that I can't get Gran Turismo 4 to work on my fatty model PS2 no matter how hard I try! Maybe it only plays on the slim PS2?

GT4 works fine on my fatty PS2. Maybe it is your disc?
Nope. The first time I tested a brand new GT4 on my fatty PS2, it didn't work. A few other times it barely worked, but nothing happens after the copyright screen.

Hmm weird. Sometimes a PS2 lens gets funky and you might just need to clean it. It happened to me before. Final Fantasy 8 would not get past the opening movie, yet no other games showed problems. After I cleaned the lens the the opening movie played fine. Alternatively, just because a game is brand new or shows no signs of physical damage does not mean it still could not be faulty.
