Game Informer's reviewed Mass Effect already...seriously

Well, I decided to take a trip over to Gamerankings to see how the Orange Box was being reviewed. Once the page loaded, I noticed, to my great surprise, Mass Effect sitting near the top of the "Most Popular" list, and next to it was an average score. Apparently, GameInformer has already reviewed it and given it a 9.75/10. This is really weird because A) They didn't give it a 10/10 ( :lol), and B), it doesn't come out for another month. Also, it lists the date of the reivew as 11/1/07, which is another 20 days from now. What the hell is going on here? :?

Leaked review from an early copy of the game.
It hasn't even gone gold though.

I did some digging at the Mass Effect forums, and I've found a couple topics that talk about a bunch of second-hand sources that can't be proven in the least. I don't see why Gameranings would choose to trust it.

Hmm. No clue. I say trust it. Somewhat because in the statements it quotes, one is a flaw.

this is what reviewers do they want to get the earliest review out so they sell more copies of their mags and they barely get into any of the game

ie: Bioshock

I have the issue of Game Informer with the Mass Effect review in it, so I can confirm its existence. They did in fact give it a 9.75.

Halo 3 got Game of the Month, though.

I've found a scan of a review.

It has me even more excited for the game, than I ever was before.

I'm not really surprised by the AI/balancing issues, though. Here's hoping they work that all out in Mass Effect 2.

I don't trust game informer they usally test beta's or works in progress and let there review from there, intill I see reviews from egm, im going to have to not trust g.i. plus there bias, bunch of sony fan boys I mean they shoot every wii game down so far, so Idk about them anymore, damn you game stop making me get a sucky mag for a discount card that I don't use

But I do have good news heres some new in info on the collectors edition. Creating a Limited Edition or Collector's Edition or Limited Collector's Edition of an anticipated release is all the rage these days. So when an uber-hyped game like Mass Effect is on the horizon, it's simply expected.
Microsoft and BioWare filled in Team Xbox on the planned bonus features. The "Limited Collector's Edition" will include a "Galactic Codex: Essentials" book that sounds like it will serve as a sort of encyclopedia for the world of Mass Effect. There will also be an art book, and a 2nd DVD included with featurettes on the game's art and storytelling. Pricing hasn't been announced for how much the bonus edition will cost, but if it follows the lead of other games, it would hit at $69.99.

It's no Big Daddy figure or cat helmet, but the extras seem to indicate a clear focus on expanding the game's world. If you want to hear more to decide if you want the LE copy

It's not really a Sony bias though. It's just a "this game will sell more than other games" bias. They put games on the cover that they think will sell to the uninformed masses that walk into GameStop on a daily basis (remember the Snoop Dog cover back in the day?). Game Informer is primarily aimed at the 18-35 males range and that's why Wii games almost never make the cover because people still think the Wii is for kids and grandmas. I think it's funny because the Wii is selling like crazy and Game Informer might actually get more readers if they would feature Wii games more prominently sometimes. I'm really surprised they haven't done a Super Mario Galaxy cover yet. But I'm sure they will do SSBB just because it will sell tons.

I'm even more excited about this game though. When does it come out?
November 20th here, November 23rd in Europe, and the 22nd for Australia I think.  I think they skipped a Japanese release for this.

There's no confirmed Limited Edition for Mass Effect yet.  Trust me, over at the official forums, they lock any thread even mentioning a limited edition.  As for the Galactic Codex, by any chance do you mean this? http://masseffect.bioware.com/galacticcodex/

I would expect it to go gold within a week or two, so development is basically finished. They're probably just getting rid of bugs by now.
Yeah, just a few last testing runs.
