Here are some of mine:
1. Grid Wars 2 - No longer available on the creator's website (due to legal threats from the Geometry Wars people) so you'll have to search for this one.
2. Duck Doom Deluxe - A parody of Duck Hunt and Doom, made with the Game Maker software. This game never leaves my desktop.
3. Cave Story - English version of Doukutsu Monogatari, a fun little action platformer. Some fans of the game are currently re-doing the soundtrack, called the Cave Story Remix Project.
4. Akuji the Demon - Similar to Cave Story, a much shorter game, but hey, it's free. (AFAIK, Home of the Underdogs is the only source for the translation patch - comes with the game or you can DL it separately.)
5. Halo Zero - 2D side scrolling shooter based on Halo. Similar to Codename Gordon (Half Life) but not as frustrating.
6. Cloud - Kinda like a laid back version of Katamari Damacy, you play as a sick child who dreams of flying through the clouds. Nice change of pace from the usual fragfest.
7. Space Invaders OpenGL - Updated version of the classic. Lot's of power-ups and really nice graphics.
8. And Yet It Moves - Very strange tumbling and turning game I saw on G4 last night and downloaded today. Unique art style where everything looks like it's made out of torn paper. This one may take a while to get the hang of it!
9. GTA 1 & 2. Yep, the originals are free now from the Rockstar website. Very large downloads though, even with broadband. They also have an old game called Wild Metal Country but I didn't really enjoy that one as much.
10. Zork 1, 2 & 3. The original text-based adventures are also free now from Infocom. (Don't forget your grue repellent!) Also, there's a flash version of the old Infocom Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy game at the BBC website, complete with illustrations. (Don't forget to bring a towel!)
There are plenty more but I'll leave it at 10 for now. I would have included links for these but I'm relatively new to the forum and don't want to push the rules. Any freeware/abandonware you enjoy? Name your game!
