Sega Dreamcast Faulted controller ports

I have this dreamcast. When I was playing marvel vs. capcom 1, the controller ports blew up, or it might of been the controllers. is there a way to get it fixed or should i rather buy 1 off ebay?

I think you just might as well go ahead and get a new DC, unless you got a friend or something with a DC controller so you can test it out to see if its just the controller itself or the ports, ya' know?
 
Probably an electrical short. If it was the controller shorting, and it was big enough, then it also took out your DC. You can tell by the smell. If the console smells burnt, then the the console is dead. And just for cheap insurance, toss out the controller too so it won't claim your next DC.
 
That is a very common problem with the Dreamcast I have noticed over the years. Sometimes it won't even reconize the controllers sadly from time to time :(

I haven't experieced this problem yet since I had my DC. I don't know whats going on but mines still plays good, just I got to set the time and date over and over again due to inactvity. lol
