Doom 3

Since it is on sale on Steam for $14.99, I am considering getting it. I do have the xbox version, which does have a decent control setup, but feel a little more at home playing it with mouse and keyboard.

Thoughts, comments?

Last year it was $4.99 at Best Buy on Black Friday (2009), but it was sold out by the time MasterMario, SpartanEvolved, and I got there at 6:30 am. I haven't seen it below $19.99 anywhere 'til the Steam sale knocked it down to $14.99.

I remember you mentioned that. Yet, usually near the end of this month Steam will go crazy with price drops. I missed out on getting Lego Batman for $4.99 last night, now it's $9.99 sadly. Hylian7 usually predicts these things well.

I would suggest waiting it out too. Especially since there are daily deals going on right now. There will usually be a Doom pack sale every now and then. I picked up the Doom pack during QuakeCon for the same price Doom 3 is going for right now.

Okay, so hold off 'til it's either a package deal or Doom 3 for under $10 then?

Whichever you prefer. Doom 3 can be had for less than $10 and the packs do go on sale every now and then. So it's up to you whether you want all the games or just 3. When the pack goes on sale, usually 3 does.

Get it, whatever the price!!

DooM 3 is badass on the PC. I agree, the xbox control system was very good for a FPS, but that keyboard/mouse and graphical tweaks to be had by the PC make it a must-have.

There are some pretty cool mods out there too.

"A Mature would not see Doom 3 as a great game"

...well thanks for clearing that up and speaking on behalf of all 'mature gamers', myself included. ;)

I, however, still think its a great game, as do most user reviews, as they all seem to be above average. :?

Don't worry about that guy, he's just a clever spammer. Check his other post, he mentions the same free "zelda" game. And yes, Doom 3 got mostly good to great reviews.

Yeah, I think you're right about that... I doubt he comes back to the forums for any other conversation.

The only complaint I've heard is the need for the flashlight. Other than that, not much else.

There is a flashlight; you just have to holster your gun to use it. :D I think that's part of what's scary. There are several points where you have to choose between defense and being able to see your surroundings.

lol, Can't believe I got suckered in. :lol

Yeh, the flashlight definitely makes the game more intense. :o That stick-on flashlight mod that so many used really did take the scare-factor out of the game.
