Does anyone here like to collect Famicom pirated games?

CHARGING STAR!!
Cause I do! :D

Here is a picture of my whole collection: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40402573@N08/4237121225/

Many of them are pirates. My favorite games are Power Rangers 2, Pokemon Red, Contra 5, Master Fighter II, and Pocket Monster!! Up next coming for me Is Mario 10. 8)

So does anyone else like them?

EGA does not endorse the selling/purchasing of pirated gaming. Because we like our games by legal means. Thank you. :P

Yeah if I had a famicom I'd probably get some pirated carts too. Pokemon Red looks fun, especially since it looks like Ash fights pokemon with his bare hands :lol

I purchased a couple of "Astro boy" GBA game carts off of ebay for some gifts. Both were from two different sellers. One of them seemed very lite and the label was lacking the picture of Astro boy. I opened it up and it was pirated! The PCB had a battery on it and it was not Nintendo electronics. I was angry and upset! >:( I do not like something that is pirated. The quality is so bad and it muscles in, stealing from the original game makers. I did not give it as a gift.

I admit that is a pretty cool collection.

Thanks :D

And also, I don't just mean bootleg copies of official games. I mean neat chinese originals and hacks, like these:

Cause if its just a normal game, yeah i'd perfer the official copy.

^ This is our main stance. We do not endorse roms or emulators...etc.

This is an interesting topic though... as I am VERY surprised to see so many chinese "bootlegs" creeping up again.

The Neo Geo CD community was rippled with the bootlegs at one point. Everyone thought they were possibly collectors editions or something rare because they weren't well known. Once everyone found out what they were... the bootlegs were shunned pretty quickly.

I see why some people buy them... however, they are poorly made, cheap, bad labels... etc... most people don't want to deal with them. AND in many cases... they are sod off as "good" items in legit boxes. Personally... I think they ruin the game market and quality of items. But if you just want to play a game... then legit & quality probably don't mean anything.

Welcome to the boards. Please enjoy your stay and we hope to see you around. Please do not post up a lot of topics like this one. It is good for people to be aware they exist ... and what to recognize when a game they want to buy doesn't look quite right or seems to be lacking quality stickers, boxes, or inserts

BV :hat

I agree with you BV on all of that. Bootlegged copies which are supposed to be legit games, well, that is downright shady and scandalous. But I think OP knew exactly what he was buying and they are sold as such, so it's a little different I guess.

Yeah, it's kind of like the new Dreamcast games coming out. They're not official games but more like commercial homebrew I guess.

Most other boards I'm on we're allowed to talk about roms and emulators and the such, but not allowed to give out links. I don't think talking about them reflects that our site would endorse them, but the rules are the rules.

I don't collect bootleg NES/Famicom games (or multicarts), because they mostly don't work well on the first try and is a waste of money.

I guess it was just my bad wording. I meant unlicensed games. (Like Tengen or color dreams games, but chinese) Theyre not illegal, just hilariously unprofessional.
