Do you Think It's Fair To Breed A Dog That Is Destined To Suffer?

Hi People.

In my opinion,I believe it isn't fair to the animal, nor is it fair to the owner to pay a lot of money to fix the dog's inevitable sickness that all breeders know about before these poor animals are born.
Dachshunds are widely known for their intense back pain, and so are Basset hounds.Bulldogs have numerous afflictions(and again, the breeders know this, but still breed them anyway, and people still buy them.
I'm not certain with Pitbulls, some people tell me their brains deteriorate through time.At any rate,I believe it's certainly not fair to the animal.I'm not saying all breeds,I'm not saying I'm holier than thou, but I just wouldn't have the heart to breed these dogs into a painful life.
And for those who are thinking that every dog has to see the "Vet" from time to time does not apply here. The magnitude of the suffering I'm talking about has much more gravity.
Below is an example of what Bulldogs must endure.

The example you gave with a Bulldog is just regular care you need to give to every animal, they're only suffering if the owner is neglecting them. Cysts on their toes/feet? If you don't notice these, you're not paying enough attention to your pet and from what I gather it's just an infection between the toes and can probably just be cleaned up with antibiotic cream or something of the sort. Cherry eye can be in almost any breed of dog, and even some cats if I remember right. Again, anything can develop allergies. That talks about hip dysplasia also, but even humans can have hip problems, that's just a part of getting old. :-\ The rest just talks about the need to bathe, run around, and that they don't do so well in heat.

Granted, the Bulldog wasn't the best example, but they do have respiratory problems which any Vet will tell you.I also mentioned the Dachshund and their backs.what excuse is there for that?

(I think) Kaz's point is that inbreeding (impossible to avoid because of the small gene pools each breed has) in order to create pure-breds causes dogs to be much more susceptible to these things as well as a bunch of other diseases.

(Or I might have completely misread Kaz's post XD)

I personally, trust Aleeock's statement. She knows more about Animal pet care and I can vouch for the many times she's helped me with my cat. Whatever she says, is 100% truth.

Well what do you want them to do? Kill off the whole dog breed?
No, just encourage more interbreeding, and raise awareness. If people know that pure bred dogs aren't as healthy, they might not buy one specifically from a breeder and pick one up from the pound or a shelter instead.

Not at all.
In German,I believe "Dachs" means "Badger" and Hund means "Hound".I believe Dachshunds used to be bred to hunt Badgers. No matter which way you slice it,they are notorious for developing bad back pain.I just don't think it's fair, that's all.We used to own one named "Schneider".(After the hot dog brand.) :lol

He around age 5 started to have back pain that even the vet said seemed to be horrible, just by touching him in certain back areas.Mega is right, you do seem to have solid knowledge about animal care.If there is something I didn't understand, please school me,I'm always open to learn more things.

Peace.

Well one big problem is some people really do just prefer pure breed dogs and health risk or not there going to buy them the best dog I ever had was mix breed.
