Do We Have More Female Members Or Male Members?

The reason I ask is that the bulk of members appear to be male.Although I'm not sure,I think the bulk of video game players seem to be male in my experience. If all this is true,I wonder why.Certainly no disrespect to our female members,it's just something I'm curious about.I go to EB Games frequently and they are always busy with a bunch of people but rarely female.Just curious in the sociological aspect of this.

I just wanted to hear your opinions on the subject.

Godspeed.

Well people can't really say the gaming world is still male dominant because there are definitely alot more female gamers than there used to be. I think it's about even still hard to tell really.

On this forum it's a ratio of 10.7:1 actually. But that's total members, not only the active ones.
That's a good point. It's nice to see you back and posting aleeock157! :)

Good point as well.I guess it could depend on many factors. It could be just the way it is where I live, and what time of the day I enter EB Games, etc.I imagine if I attended a gaming conference I'd get a better picture of my post's question.

I think more women would be into it if they had the opportunity or were introduced to games they would like... I've gotten female friends into gaming in the past. I believe in that it is like other mostly-male hobbies that I'm into like golf, fishing, and watching football-- I was lucky enough to have a "tomboy" upbringing and that stuff was encouraged.

It does seem like most serious female gamers are younger; ones my age and older seem much more rare, probably because many of them have kids and don't have the chance to play much (working full-time really keeps me from having enough gaming time; if I had kids I don't know that I'd have any). The exception would be probably with some MMORPGs and maybe some DS games that adult women seem to play more.

I love Tomboys! Be careful though. It's been my experience that they scrap just as good,if not better than men.

I'd say that there's probably a bit more male games than female games. I started playing CSS the other night and was really surprised at how many girls played on that server regularly.
