Did anyone pick up Mega Man Anniversary Collection for GC?

^Topic.

Everyone on IGN is complaining about it because of the button configuration. I'm wondering if anyone here can comment on it. I can't say that I'm a huge fan of MM but I do enjoy it. I was contemplating getting MMAC.

It's the classic Megaman. The REAL Megaman. The good stuff. Before his games dropped in the toilet.

And I didn't see a release date in stores...bah.

Ya, my one friend who grew up on Mega Man forced me to rent it and let him play it. He said the controls are really screwed up, and I thought so too even though I never played the originals. For some reason "b" is the jump button and "a" is the shoot button. I'm just used to it being the other way around from various other games, so it took some getting used to, and he found it increasingly annoying because he had such a well developed instinct for Mega Man 1 through 6 that anytime he paniced he'd hit the wrong button. Other than that he absolutely loved it and thought it was the greatest thing since Mega Man 2, but he also said given the option he'd rather play it on PS2 where the controls would probably be a bit better.

No, you can't switch the controls. The only "options" there are deal with the sound, TV screen, etc. Nothing to do with the gameplay.

There should always be control changing options, I don't know why they don't put them in every game. What do the shoulder buttons do in MMAC?

It's a faster way to toggle through your upgrades, so you don't always have to pause the screen to select Metal Men, that sort of thing.

Another stupid addition that isn't as annoying is that to pause the game to switch you have to use the "z" button. The start button is the "main" pause button, it will bring up the "Return to start screen, Resume Gameplay" option stuff and "z" is like the in-game stuff. Really stupid...

They also added in a rapid fire button, "y" I think it is. It's kinda cheap but you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Comes in handy in a couple places though.

Grr, now i'm annoyed. Is it so hard to keep a game EXACTLY how it was in the first place? People want this game because they remember how much they used to love the Megaman games, or because they want to experience what they missed out on. Then Capcom just screw everyone over. >:(

Have you played it yet? It could still be a pretty good game, just ignore the new stuff and play it like you used to.

Aside from the shoot/jump control mess-up, my friend had very little to complain about. He grew up on all the Mega-Man NES games, and he said that minus a few annoyances that he eventually got over, he had no problem with it. The games themselves still have the same graphics and sound, they didn't add in any new moves or bosses or anything like that, so it's still a solid port of the game.
