Diablo 3 for PS3?? Blizzard seeking to hire a team..

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Normally, job listings that seem to suggest unannounced games can be interpreted in multiple ways, but this one seems fairly cut and dried. Blizzard is hiring for a "Senior Software Engineer, Console -- PlayStation 3 Specialist" within the Diablo 3 team.

"This position is responsible for overseeing Playstation 3 (PS3) architecture design," the listing explains, "as well as other PS3-specific game code development to maximize platform performance."

Even though this looks an awful lot like an indicator of an upcoming PS3 version of Diablo 3, of course, the standard disclaimers still apply. It could end up being a research-related job and not anything that leads to a console port; it could merely be part of the company's ongoing "investigation." If any company has money to burn on projects that don't turn into retail games, it's Blizzard.

I wonder if they will console-ize Diablo 3. I know the specs weren't that high to begin with for PC... although I can't say the PS3 or Xbox360 could handle it well (OR how much it would have to be dumbed down for the systems to handle it if done at all).

Interesting enough though... I will still buy it for the Ps3. We'll definitely have to keep an eye out on this.

I believe this is now official.

I'm not sure how I feel about Diablo 3 coming out for Consoles... but what do you all think?

Post it up!

I've never been a Diablo kinda guy, but I think it would definitely be worth a try. Especially with all the hype behind it.

The Diablo 3 on playstation 3 gives better performance compared with other gaming console and high-end PC. Graphics and video quality of Diablo 3 has increased on PS3.

There's absolutely no way a cell processor from 2006 (which btw has big potential but has yet to be perfected) and The RSX GPU in the PS3 (7900GT at 550MHz with 256MB of DDR3 1400MHz on a 128-bit memory bus) can pull this off. Market level (talking best buy) pc components from half a decade ago smoke this kind of hardware on a level playing field. Luckily console software is coded to take full advantage of the hardware where as the guys programming pc games don't have the luxury of knowing what their software will be played on, so the pc code is more "vague" and less optimized making the difference in console and pc not as obvious until the consoles age a few years; which its been six years so I will definatly argue or at least ask why you think a ps3 with gear put out 6 years ago can outperform even midrange pcs? Heck, in two years everyones netbook will be rocking hardware comprable to the ps3 and 360.

I am 99.9% sure it was a spambot. They're programmed pretty smart these days, to look like they're actually saying something that makes sense, when it's really just a bunch of keywords jumbled together.

Although I am happy with Diablo 3 on my PC I do not want to rule out the possibility of a console port or somehow adapt the game to make it gamepad compatible, I am just one of those weirdo PC gamers that likes to use his PS3 controller to play games on my PC (my thumbs never get tired but my index finger does). And honestly I do believe it is possible to make such accommodations, highly unlikely though.
