dead pixel problems?

But the thing is that dead pixels are a common defect of LCD screens and most companies that make LCD screens do not themselves warranty for dead pixels unless there's a certain percentage of dead pixels relative to the total number of pixels. So while GameStop does the warranty and we normally would cover something like that, we have to stop when Corporate says to because Sony won't take them back. GameStop would like to warranty them, but if Sony refuses to take them back, GameStop doesn't get any credit and therefore loses money. The first day we were doing exchanges for dead pixels (even if it was just one) but GameStop as a whole got so many returns just for dead pixels that Corporate had to put a stop to that.

Oh ok I see now. thanks for the info.

Still though, if Gamestop is not going to stand behind their products (for whatever legitimate reasons they have) then they shouldn't sell it, period.

Yeah I still think it's a bunch of BS. I paid for the extra warranty, so they should cover it.

But without Sony's support, we don't really have a choice in the matter. Our warranty states that we'll replace any warranted system within a year, free of charge. The problem is that Sony themselves did not send us enough PSPs to cover that. We only got enough PSPs to cover pre-orders. And if Sony is not going to support replacing systems just because of dead pixels, that means we have no PSPs to exchange for that problem. If Sony was willing to replace the PSPs and sent us some, then it wouldn't be an issue. As it is, when people come in to exchange, we just give them a refund because there are no extra PSPs to exchange. And in that case, would you rather settle for a PSP with one dead pixel, or not have a PSP at all?

A dead pixel or two really shouldn't warrant a return IMO anyway. The system itself still works, you can still do everything with it, and most likely, the dead pixels don't even affect gameplay. I think people are just being too picky because the PSP is so freakin' expensive to begin with. Now if the system was truly defective (ie couldn't read UMDs, wouldn't turn on, or one of the buttons was broken and therefore hampered gameplay) then I could see why people would be upset about their warranty not being honored. But to b**** about not getting a replacement PSP because of one or two dead pixels...that's a bit ridiculous.

I know that gamestop doesnt have enough to cover the exchanges. I expected that even before I bought one. And it's not like im at gamestop complaining to them to do it. And a screen is defective if it has dead pixels. Just cuz it's common doesnt make it less defective. Like I said in another thread it doesnt bother me to the point of wanting to exchange it. And what's wrong with being picky. I paid $280 for the system and the warranty. Oh and I have seven dead pixels, not just one or two. It started out as three but as the days went by I kept noticing more and more. At first I thought it could have been dust or lint. But nope it was a few more dead pixels.

Well, if Gamestop gives you your money back, then that's alright. But do they only give you your money back if it has 11 or more dead pixels?
