Who got the PSP and has dead pixel problems?

I just saw on another MB... a guy bought 1 psp, had 1 dead pixel in the middle of the screen.... exchanged it for another PSP, and has 4 dead pixels... :shame

Who else had problems with this?

you must of missed my post on the other thread. I dont know but it seems people ignore my posts sometimes. Anyways, it doesnt matter. I've seen at least two, but I think there are four.

I checked mine.... no dead pixles *WHEW* YOu want to see me become a full Sony hater...? :lol
I think they knew who NOT to give the dead pixels to.

Creepin, I saw that :) Which is why I made this post.... to hopefully get more attention to that.

I don't think people ignore your posts. I don't at least :D

ok... I found 1 :(

Now.... I have 3 other spots.... but they are really hard to see... I hope they are not one either. I only have 1 that is easily visible.

How easy are yours to spot?

Ok thanks. Yeah one is really visible. The other one is kind of small. They all seem to be on the left side of the screen. Honestly they dont really bother me, but I do want a $250 piece of equipment to be free from flaws.

same here.

I guess Sony just expects people to put up with it ::)
Yup.... I am starting to hate Sony even more now.

You know... they don't bother Gameplay... at least for now. But the smaller ones are normally the pixels that "are starting to go."
They'll get worse over time.

My friend and I talked about this last night.... whats the 1 thing Sony has over the DS and thats it.... the 1 thing people always talk about the PSP for? The Screen. And now they are screwing that up....

Wow...everyone's got dead pixels. Nutty. But the other thing Sony has going for it, is they'll have a buttload of games while Nintendo only cranks out a couple here and there.

At GameStop we had four come back on launch day because of dead pixels. The crazy thing is that we couldn't give them an exchange, since we didn't even get enough PSPs to cover our pre-orders. I think I would rather put up with a few dead pixels for a week or so until I could actually exchange it for another PSP instead of just getting a refund and having no PSP at all.

I guess..  they are not that good though.  I haven't really liked 1 game I played yet.  Twisted Metal Is somewhat cool.... but I don't like many of the other games.

@ mai.... No one has run out of stock yet. :lol *well... maybe a couple shops*
No one will either.

Apparently there was so many returns for dead pixels that now GameStop won't do any unless there's 11 or more dead pixels. :lol

And as for running out...we still only have enough for pre-orders, but at least 6 people haven't even bothered to come get them. So they pre-ordered it and they're not even excited enough to come and actually pick it up. :-\

As a sony fan I'm really disappointed at this whole dead pixel thing :shame. I'm glad I decide to wait for the PS3 to come out rather than getting the PSP. And I'm not surprised with the Twisted Metal game. Why did they stop making them? I always liked Twisted Metal games. TM 3 was my favorite ::D ::D

Thats a bunch of BS. Does the eleven or more pixel count even if you got the warranty?

The warranty does not cover dead pixels, since all LCD screens are prone to that particular problem.

I suppose if you had more than 11, it would cover it, but if there's less than 11 dead pixels, we're not supposed to do anything. We're supposed to tell those customers that they need to take it up directly with Sony. And really, it's not GameStop's fault that Sony shipped bad PSPs, anyway.

I haven't found any dead pixels on mine yet, but I have a lot of friends that have 5 or 6.

Don't LCD screens normally get dead pixels anyway?

True it is a defect. And I totally understand that Gamestop doesnt have enough units to meet the returns. But isnt the whole point of a warranty is to fix or replace it if it has a defect? I paid $30 for the warranty at gamestop, as a matter of fact I have it right here. I'll read an excerpt, it states and I quote
The replacement may be new or rebuilt to meet the manufacturer's specifications of the product. Our liability is limits to the lower of
1) replacement of the product or any defective part or
2) the original purchase price of the product

Unless I'm reading it wrong. That right there states that I can a replacement. And yes a defective product is not gamestops fault.

it turns out to be a bad quarter for Sony

first the problems with the PSP and now the 90 million $ lawsuit. too bad...

But the thing is that dead pixels are a common defect of LCD screens and most companies that make LCD screens do not themselves warranty for dead pixels unless there's a certain percentage of dead pixels relative to the total number of pixels. So while GameStop does the warranty and we normally would cover something like that, we have to stop when Corporate says to because Sony won't take them back. GameStop would like to warranty them, but if Sony refuses to take them back, GameStop doesn't get any credit and therefore loses money. The first day we were doing exchanges for dead pixels (even if it was just one) but GameStop as a whole got so many returns just for dead pixels that Corporate had to put a stop to that.
