Console Warfare........ 360 v.s the World

Spartan 117

Combat Evolved
Lets see how the 360 stacks up to the competition. Im going to do a list of factors, and I want you guys to coment on each. Here they are...........

Looks( doesnt really but adding it anyway matter )

Games( the most important factor )

System specs( whos pumping out the power )

Online Strategy( a key factor )

Controller( this is much bigger than people would think )

Life Cycle( you want your system to last as long as possible right? )

Im going to do each of these by rating them on a scale of 1-10. Lets see whos gonna have the best overall rating when Im done.

Im going to start by doing the most important factor

"THE GAMES"

While im not sure what games will appear on each system im just gonna do the no brainers of what we should expect, and what is definetly comin. I will give each system a 10 game slot so here goes.

X-Box 360
1 Halo 3( sequel to the greatest console FPS of all time, enough said )
2 Gears of War( arguably the most anticipated 360 game, the screen shots speak for themselves )
3 CrackDown( creator of GTA........... X-Box360.............. need i say more )
4 Fable 2( the first Fable was a masterpiece, i have no doubts about this one )
5 Ninja Gaiden 2( Ryu is back........... again! )
6 Lost Odyssey( expect this to be the greatest RPG of all time )
7 Mass Effect( Biowares tract record is amazing, and so will this game )
8 Too Human
9 Final Fantasy 360( Final Fantasy on a system other than Sonys........... Yaay )
10 Forza Motorsport 2( can this be a Grand Tursimo killer? )

X-Box 360 game final rating: 10/10

PS3
1 Metal Gear Solid 4( the mullet man has returned, God Bless Hideo Kojiima )
2 God of War 2( hasnt been confirmed, but we know its comin, the original was an amazing game )
3 Kill Zone 2( sequel to Sonys sub par shooting game )
4 Vision GT( Grand Tursimo on the PS3 )
5 Final Fantasy Next Gen( .............. )
6 Devil May Cry 4( Daunte looks even better in this installment )
7 Tekken 6( Paul Phoenix and pals are fighting yet again )
8 Ratchet and Clank Next Gen( im willin to bet Ratchet and Clank to make an next gen appearance )
9 Twisted Metal Next Gen( we all have a Sweet Tooth for these games )
10 Ominusha Next Gen( expect to see this )

Well some of these games are amazing ie.MGS, others just dont get me excited as much as 360s lineup. Well it is a bit early to tell im givin this PS3 games ovr 8.5/10

Haha you're jus an XBox fanboy..that's why you're not rating the PS3 as high. :lol
360 doesn't stack up against the world, none the less the PS3.

:lol You missed a few my friend. Don't mean to hijack the thread but check out the post I made yesterday showing video of upcoming PS3 games. http://www.egameaddiction.com/forums/index.php?topic=3637.0

Sorry, but the 360's day's are numbered :o

The end is near for Microsoft and Nintendo. Very near.... :lol

If Nintendo were to end it would be the single greatest blow to the video game industry ever. The following stagnation would result in the ultimate demise of the video game industry as we know it.....I submit that the days of Nintendo are directly intertwined with the lifespan videogames themselves.

I disagree. As has been discussed in other threads Nintendo is not the only company "innovating," and I would even go so far as to say they're innovating areas that don't need to be changed. If Nintendo were to end I doubt it would impact videogames at all. They've slowly but surely become a declining force in the industry, and I foresee that trend continuing over the next few years. Nintendo is already practically out of the picture, not much would change if they were out completely.

But I digress.

3 Kill Zone 2( sequel to Sonys sub par shooting game )

I disagree. The first Kill Zone was an amazing first person shooter, especially when it came to closing the gap between 3rd and 1st person shooters. It really felt like you were seeing through the eyes of a person with limbs and height, and not as though your vision encompassed the entire body of your character. To call it sub par is an absolute lie, as every aspect of the game was polished to a degree well above the standard. You may not like it, but you must give credit where credit is due, and Killzone was an excellent addition to the FPS genre.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as of now, isn't Sony in a bit of a financial burden right now?

Ya, the worst one in 20 years or something like that. Still, Sony being in a financial "burden" could just mean that they're profits aren't as high as they're expecting, its not like Sony is on the verge of bankruptcy or anything, so it shouldn't affect the PS3's life. You may just not see quite so many ads as you did for the PS2.

So "innovating" in gameplay isnt needed? That's basically the area they are trying to "innovate" in. Gameplay can always use innovation no matter what generation of consoles we are in. You can say what you want about the controller itself since it's already been proven that the technology has been around for years, but it can (and I think it will) improve gameplay. We already have Sony and 360 innovating in other areas as well as gameplay, but Nintendo seems to be more focused on it than the others. Whether or not it will be a success is still up in the air right now.

I don't think messing with the controller is the right way to go about innovating gameplay. In my opinion the tools already exist to create new gameplay experiences, its the ideas and ambition to create new games that has been stagnating. A new controller might spark a couple interesting ideas, but until I see an actual game running on the Rev I doubt there will be many good ideas spawned from this controller. Developers just need to stop relying on old franchises and sequels to make money, and they need to start providing something new in addition to updates of existing franchises.

And I think that's what this controller MIGHT do. I agree we havent seen anything yet but it's I think it's safe to say that it will be different. This controller can only make franchises more different than what they already are and should spawn brand new ones. That's what I think will happen.
