MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
I purchased WaW recently from Steam. Everytime it launches. it freezes and leaves a blank, black screen now.

What could be the problem? The video card? the RAM? the CPU?

What are your PC specs? Are you able to check temps of CPU and GPU shortly after it freezes?

2.4 Ghz CPU, 3GB of RAM, and I cannot check the stats when the game freezes.

does your graphics card have a GPU heat monitor? IE software that you can check.

Yea, I meant after it freezes can you restart the PC and check temps, either through your BIOS or software.

It's updated to the most recent drivers. I've lowered the settings and it's not strong enough to run at full-quality Im assuming

To add to the confusion a bit, it probably isn't a hardware issue because CoD:WaW multiplayer runs fine for him. It's only the single player that crashes.

What he said ^

Oh, so MP is fine? What about Zombies? That shows up on the SP menu, IIRC.

Try deleting Treyarch.bik from Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty - World at War/Beta/main/video. I've heard it can cause trouble.

Also, if you have any CD emulation software such as DaemonTools, you're going to have to remove the virtual drives and disable the program for the game to work.

I tried removing that file and it still froze. :(
