Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
The Persona role-playing-game franchise is getting a hi-def entry called "Catherine". It's an action-adventure type game that is aimed at adults.

The game follows Vincent as he wakes up every night from his dreams. Vincent, website Siliconera points out, appeared in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable!.

Catherine is being developed for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

umm after watching an actual trailer I highly doubt this is a persona game >_> specially since it has nothing to do with high school.....or are they taking the series in a direction that is actually way too creepy....

This is sadly not intended to be a Persona game. Shin Megami Tensei? Of course. Persona? No. It's more or less a stand alone game, like Devil Survivor. Still, this isn't the first time we've seen Vincent. He's the man drinking alone in the club on Persona 3. Interesting?

HOWEVER. I just watched the trailer and it looks really interesting. Andddddd it's supposed to have "shocking adult scenes" and the music is apparently meant to be erotic. So is it a horror erogame? Probably.

yeah, you are right, there is no need to be disappointed, after all SMT spin-offs are still amazing *still has devil survivor's story as one of my favorites*

Still, the whole erotic tone to the game is kind of a turn off. (Pun? I don't know.) I'll check it out definitely, but I'm just a little wary about that.

And I found something on Persona 5. I may've read it wrong but I'll try to look again for it.

Add this one to the pile of evidence of a new Persona game's existence: a listing on a Sony website for Shoji Meguro, longtime Atlus composer, as producer of Persona 5.

This is starting to turn into a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 XBLA/PSN type of affair. Atlus has yet to announce a Persona sequel, but we all pretty much assume it's going to happen, and at the rate at which rumors and evidence of the game pile up, every single time Atlus denies the game's existence is going to make it seem more and more likely.

The newest piece of evidence is certainly the most interesting one yet (though certainly not as weird as a pachinko site leaking the news). A profile of longtime Atlus house composer Shoji Meguro on a Sony mobile PlayStation site gives him credits for a number of Atlus titles, including Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, Persona 3 and 4, and...Persona 5.

Meguro's listed as a producer for the game, which is interesting since he has yet to serve in a production role for a Persona game and is pretty much seen as the music man. That could be a typo. If it is, and the whole Persona 5 thing is another typo, well there's two giant slip-ups on the part of whoever's running this website.

So, Persona 5 confirmed? I'm not going to jump to that conclusion yet. Tokyo Game Show is next month, in any case, and if there's anywhere to announce the game, it'll be there.

1up has more on it or more info about the rumors. Well, this is awesome. I hope this is true... This is fairly recent, from August 7 or 8th.

i know what you mean...i mean persona 3 and 4 had some erotic themes to it but NOTHING THIS EXAGGERATED XD

What? 1up needs to get their facts straight, Shoji Meguro was the director of Persona 1 PSP certainly being director means being working in a production type role. Next, how did Kotaku make that blunder when the original article in no way tied Catherine to the SMT or even to the Persona series...one again Kotaku causes confusion and fails to edit their news article...clearly siliconera should be referenced for these things...and why is this thread title spouting false information as well?

Catherine...ah I guess its 50/50 if it even comes over here, I guess target sales would be 80K units, I wonder if that would be profitable for atlus for an HD game.

the persona team is working on catherine, that is how is being tied in together.... you know if you have to correct some of the information said, please say it nicely or make the threads yourself, you don't need to be so mean about it...

and for the record siliconera is as believable as kotaku and 1up are...

Yeah, Kotaku is really bad with their information. I've been seeing them bashed a lot lately. That's why I stick to Joystiq. :D
