Best Single Player Game (EGA's VGA's 2008)

This game distinguishes itself from the rest by engaging the player intellectually and intuitively to provide an experience that defines the purpose of the medium, and is exemplary in its execution of that purpose. The technical components of the game perform flawlessly; the game’s world, characters, and story are all well designed; and the emotional journey the player goes through as a result is both rewarding and contemplative. The winner of this award must boast meaningful substance and thematic content that is complimented, not hindered, by its gameplay and technical ability.

Pretty much what I said from the Best Single Player Category from the PS3 section:

MGS4 is most likely going to go down as one of the most cinematic and emotional stories ever to be told in any form of media. Therefor taking my vote for Best Single Player Game.

MGS4 yet again, Fr0dus Maximus hit the nail on the head.

I went with Gears of War 2, but I can't really knock choosing MGS4. I've always enjoyed 3rd-person shooters, and cover-based shooters, so playing Gears of War feels intuitive, challenging, and fun. MGS4 has a great story and great production value, but the mechanics of the game are impenetrable. No matter how I play an MGS game I never feel like I'm in control, and I always feel like I'm doing something wrong or like there's a better way to go about completing what I'm supposed to do. It never feels right. And so, all other areas of the game being equal except for story and gameplay, I gotta go with GoW2's gameplay over MGS4's story.

MGS4 for sure.

Gears 2 is much better coop IMO. Team A.I. feels alright..but not nearly as good as having a friend run through it with you. If you could issue squad commands, single player would be a lot more fun to me.
