So, I was able to buy the 4 books of it, Im now in a bit of a bind.

I cant find the two movies as well. I can actually readily find Ex Machina on Blu-Ray, but the first one is nowhere to be found. Is it necessary to even watch it, for the sake of Ex Machina?
 
I've watched both of the movies. Probably some of the best anime movies I've seen to date. IDK if it's necessary though if you have the books.
 
Appleseed is awesome.I used to watch the series years back, and yes, I strongly recommend you watch the first Appleseed movie before Ex Machina. ... one of the best... CGI... opening sequence's... ever.

If love Appleseed books 2 other books your going to want to pick up are Appleseed ID and Appleseed: Hypernotes. I love Appleseed I have all 6 books and the 3 ovas the one from 80's was a little hard to find.

Both books have a short manga at the front and then the rest it is variiety information about the manga series in each book including info weapons mechas character designs both art work and what he was thinking of concerning the character as while some interviews and other stuff. I thought it was really interesting stuff.
 
The first Appleseed movie is excellent... I would think you'd be able to find a copy just searching the 'net.

The second movie lacked maturity and seemed hastily put together. The animation was great, but the plot was lackluster.
 
Hm I might have to pick up those books then as well as the movies. I will search the net for a shop to buy the first Appleseed from.
