For the week of Black Friday, the DS managed to sell 650,000 units IN JUST ONE WEEK!! It managed to set a new record for one week sales in the U.S. These numbers are absolutely unbelievable. Many consoles can't put up these kinds of numbers in a few months, and the DS managed to do it in just one week. It's astounding.

Adding to the good news for the DS, 200,000 DS's were sold in the UK, and, according to Famitsu, the DS has reached 20 million units in Japan, faster than any other console, ever. What a week for the DS.

DS had beaten the ps2 in overall sales..... i think i'm shocked XD
Not nearly. PS2 had about 120 million at the end of the last console gen, so it should be around 130 now. Meanwhile, DS has somewhere around 50 million.

The DS is selling at a faster rate than the PS2, so people are expecting it to overtake the PS2 for the highest selling console. (oh, and the PS2 hit 120 million about a month ago FYI)

oops you're right the DS still is wayyy down....but i hope it beats the ps2 it would be something that would get the attention of more developers (though the DS has a very exclusive and awesome library right now)

Yeah, Nintendo rules. Wouldn't expect any less from them.

Maybe some other games, but still. The DS is a great handheld, and the price is what's making it sell more than the PS2 (remember the PS2 wasn't always $130). :)

The Black Friday bundles probably contributed to its success a lot. I mean, the Zelda bundle? Totally awesome.

The Nintendogs bundle didn't do too badly, either.

Well, that and it's selling on appeal to casuals, a lot like the Wii.

those, are not good

but this isnt a wii thread

And you've played all of them, I bet. But you're right, it's not a Wii thread. It's a DS thread, which is a Nintendo thread.

And yes, Animal Crossing has been announced. How do we know it's an MMO if it hasn't been?

Animal Crossing Wii is the working title of a Wii game that is in development by Nintendo EAD. It is part of the Animal Crossing series. The title was announced as a Wii game that markets the WiiConnect24 feature of the console. Little information about the game is known. On February 21, 2007, the title was confirmed to be still in the works, though no target was given for its release.
My bad.

650,000 sold in one week. And what is the retail for the DS again? It's been a while. And since I have had mine, I never look at them on the shelves...
