17.7 million 360's sold worldwide, thus far.

Microsoft claims they have sold 17.7 million 360's, worldwide, as of December 2007, 7.3 million of which came in 2007. The 17.7 million 360's puts the console just ahead of Nintendo's estimate of 17.5 million Wii's sold by March 2008. I guess the Wii shortage is really coming back to get them.

It isn't all good news for Microsoft, though, as 360 sales have declined 18%, from the 2006 numbers.

As far as the Wii falling short because of shortages, I'd say it's paying off because their consoles don't die not long after being released from their cardboard confines. Not bashing or anything, but it seems that the Big N is not in a hurry to claim the top spot because they don't want their offerings to break before the warranty expires. :lol
